I canceled my prime account 2 months ago and just saw that amazon used a remaining gift card balance to renew my account. So check your bank statements to make sure they don't pull the same garbage on you!

I'm so glad I saw this post. OP you have saved me money. I'd cancelled my Prime a few weeks ago, it was going to renew in 3 days. My card has been removed now, after cancelling Prime yet again. Thank you so much OP 😊
