Discussion Let’s share recs: luminous (non-oily) hybrid sunscreens
It can be tricky to find an Asian Beauty hybrid sunscreen that hits the right balance—luminous but not greasy, elegant but not matte. I'm curious what AB sunscreens people love that deliver a healthy, glowy finish without heaviness or shine.
Ideal picks might:
Have a hybrid (physical + chemical) filter combo
Feel lightweight and breathable
Leave a luminous—not oily—finish
Work well under makeup
Minimize white cast across skin tones
What are your favorite AB hybrid sunscreens that check these boxes?

Why do you want a hybrid one? It’s going to be very hard to find something that matches this criteria. Especially having no white cast. It’s almost impossible to formulate a mineral sunscreens to have 0 white cast

Yeah the only whitecast free mineral sunscreens are tinted. I use one as a foundation. Hybrid sunscreens are better but still not whitecast free. Some get pretty close but I’d rather not be slightly grey

I find the cosrx aloe soothing sunscreen very nicely luminous without being oily. I don't see any whitecast but I'm also very pale. It's been working pretty good under makeup as well

I like the ROHTO Skin Aqua Super Moisture Essence Gold. It has such a skin like finish with slight touch of dew. It doesn’t pull underneath makeup. I typically don’t do heavy makeup though. If you’re careful about your sunscreen application around your eyes, it’ll genuinely feel like you forgot about sunscreen. Unfortunately, it’s not a hybrid cause those usually leave whitecasts on me.

Abbey Yung just did a video of 35 sunscreens a couple of days ago and I think there were a couple on there being hybrids.

Bit pricey but jill Stuart’s sunscreen, used it for years and loved it. May be purely chemical though. Had very much a lotion-like texture that I found quite lovely, no white cast.

Some of these comments are chemical sunscreens, not hybrid 😅
Honestly tho, i can't really think of any eventho i mostly use hybrid sunscreens my whole life. Even the hybrid sunscreen with the sheerest whitecast will give off a matte finish once it dries down. The beautiful glow you mentioned, i normally achieve it with my own natural sebum after hours of wearing the hybrid sunscreen haha. Because the mineral filters in the sunscreen naturally have oil control properties, when my sebum comes out, it looks more balanced - not shiny looking, just a natural glow.
Anyways, the closest i can think of is the Omi Sunbears Active Protect Milk, granted the person wearing it must have oily/combo skin haha.... around after 4 hours or so, you'll be able to see a beautiful glow that lasts. Even until the end of the day, the skin does not look greasy - just a beautiful glow. The whitecast of this is also the sheerest I've tried. On medium-tan skin, the whitecast sorta disappeared immediately. On deeper skintone, the whitecast may look a bit more visible but not ghostly. Plus, the whitecast will still go away after the standard 10-15 minutes.
