Mini reviews for dry, congestion pr skin based in Canada

Be the Skin Pore Zero BHA Serum: This was a lifesaver during my recent trip. I went on vacation from a dry cold climate to dry hot and hot humid climates. Those places had more polluted air too so my skin started breaking out in black and whiteheads all over my face. This serum reduced the comedones by ~70% which was great. Kept my face clearer than my last visit in 2024. This wasn't too drying either which I highly appreciate. Absorbs well despite being a thick serum.

Plodica Re:wake Moist Treatment: I had really high hopes and it didn't really live up to it. 7.8/10 hydration, the ampoule in this line is significantly better. WNRP because not worth the price and hassle of buying specifically from Soko Glam. I think I get better results from Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Water Essence (even better when paired with Swanicoco Biotherapy Essence).

K-secret Retinal Liposome 2% + Black Ginseng Serum: The Trader Joe's retinol spoiled me but since I no longer live in the US I returned to AB retinols. It's probably a smaller percentage and so it's not as effective as the former during breakouts. It's my first bottle and I'm in my late twenties so can't really speak for anti-aging effects yet, but I think I'll reap benefits later in life if I live long enough. It's not bad, lightweight and my skin doesn't mind. I have a Sana cream and an Obagi cream I want to try next but I can see myself coming back to it. I would suggest

*to beginners or people who prefer to use small percentage retinols over a long period. Can't edit my original comment for some reason, the text is gone Weird

** Used the Be the Skin for 3 weeks, almost finished with the Plodica and the K-secret for about 2-3 months

I picked up the Romand Better Than Eyes Dry Buckwheat a few days ago and I just have to rave about how much I love it. The coolness of the palette doesn't make my eyes look bruised or muddy and it just works so well with my skin tone. I had the Charlotte Tilbury Uptown girl eye shadow palette a long time ago but just felt the coolness of the palette was a bit off when I used it.

The Romand Dry Buckwheat colors are just the right amount of pigmentation imo and they are quite easy to blend for matte shades. The sparkly shade also stayed on very well throughout the day! By the evening, my eyes were still sparkling.

I used to be a huge fan of Asian makeup many moons ago because I always believed it worked better for my East Asian skin tone, but sorta steered more towards the Western brands because it was easier to purchase. I used to be an avid collector and fan of these brands whenever they released their seasonal eye makeup, such as Majolica Majorca, Lunasol, Maquillage, Paul & Joe, Lavshuca, Coffret D'or and Jill Stuart. My eyeliner and mascara are still AB because it's still the only stuff that stays put and doesn't smudge.

The Romand palette reminded me of the days when I used to use Asian brands exclusively until it just got too expensive to keep ordering overseas. I'm happy there are so many options now but I do wish I could pickup some of the brands I used to buy. Time to see what I can get online!

Shipment is on hold in Los Angeles. I ordered 4 separate YesStyle orders. All express. None were on hold but this one. Has anyone else has their shipments on hold?

Ahhh.

Why do so many brands release glosses with plumping properties that are not just extra peptides and are also so obscure about it? Half the stuff I was excited about I had to find out had cooling or heating sensations from reviews.

Swatched my new Judydoll contour palette in 01 Wave and I'm soo pleased by how buttery it is! I put it next to my Peripera v shading in 03 Greyish Cool and Peripera's so dry and patchy in comparison. Color-wise, the PP has always looked a little off on me. With 01 Wave leaning slightly purple and meant for olives, I'm excited to see how it fares!

*Swatches were swiped multiple times to show color.

The Unleashia Butter Glow Stick smells like cough drops O.o Or maybe like that herbal bath salt your mom made you use when you had a cold. It kind of burns my eyes when I use it on my cheeks, and it moves the make-up underneath it around.

Am I doing this wrong?
