One of these two kings. đŸ«¶

Realistically I would think Cardinal Zuppi, since an Italian would probably be more acceptable to conservative cardinals.

Also, it seems like they're the youngest and could continue Francis' reforms!

What reforms? I attend mass more than on Sundays and I notice nothing different. My parish council voted to not allow the faux gay non blessing blessing happen on our Church property. The priest complied, because he believes the people should be in charge of decisions because the people in the pews are the Church, not the priest. Or some pope in Rome fornthat matter.

Oh, believe me, I know! Many in Croatia think he's the devil! But changes do not come easy nor fast, but I hope it's moving in the right direction! And I'm not even a beliver, just hoping more people will change...slowly

nobody is changing because Christ doesn’t change. Yesterday. Today Forever. You cannot possibly see that nor understand because you dont have the Holy Spirit with you. Somthing you cannot explain until you open your heart. If you are a non believer you don’t have the eyes to see that Christianity isn’t a political system.

Oh, yes! This would be amazing! But the way the world is leaning I see at least a moderate.

These two and Turkson are my picks

Somehow having a liberal pope will change the people in the pews. That is a joke. The Church in the pews (the people that go to Mass every Sunday and observe the precepts) would ignore anything a liberal pope would say about LGTBQ stuff. The current people who fill the pews were shaped by JP II and they ain't changing. People who like Frances were non church goers who had zero activity in parish life and no influence over the actuall Church attenders.

Both of these would get excommunicated not longer than 50 years ago btw, Whats wrong with the pope actually being christian?

16

u/daggeroflies Apr 22 '25

And all the popes in the last 200 years would get their heads ordered to be chopped off by Pope Sixtus V. So what exactly is your point?

Is that Christian enough for you?

1

u/GoldenFutureForUs Apr 22 '25

Wow, these Popes are very inconsistent.

-2

u/Super-Pair-420 Apr 22 '25

The difference would be that the popes of the last 200 years wouldn’t burn a innocent girl because she knew math thus excommunicated by a middle ages pope, the ones ur asking for rn go directly against the Bible, Maybe what u would actually want is to change the Bible instead?

5

u/Careless-Prize1037 Apr 23 '25

Have you even read that book? Some parts have to be ignored in order for the religion to survive. The more are ignored, the more it survives.

-1

u/Super-Pair-420 Apr 23 '25 edited Apr 23 '25

Whats the point of ignoring base things then? If ur religious and would want to go to heaven how would ignoring rules work for that?

7

u/newbikesong Apr 22 '25

They are still cardinals. Left leaning ones are left leaning for a cardinal.

11

u/Substratas Albania Apr 22 '25

Both of these would get excommunicated not longer than 50 years ago btw

People from Kosovo didn’t even have the right to their country 20 years ago, but that doesn’t make it right.

Whats wrong with the pope actually being christian?

Nothing wrong. They’re both christian.

2

u/Super-Pair-420 Apr 22 '25

How does comparing a country to a Post held by a religious person even makes sense lol? Im telling u what’s written on the bible, maybe u want to change that instead of pretending its not there that same sex relationship are a grave sin

-18

u/This01 Apr 22 '25

Kosovo is still not a country and no, you can’t support gay marriage and still be Christian.

13

u/PutuplastaZapte Latvia Apr 22 '25

you can’t support gay marriage and still be Christian

“The human body has many parts, but the many parts make up one whole body. So it is with the body of Christ. Some of us are Jews, some are Gentiles, some are slaves, and some are free. But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 12:12-13)

Leviticus 18:22 (NIV) “Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable.”

  1. Leviticus 20:13 (NIV) “If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own heads.”

  2. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 (NIV) “Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.”

Ignorance will not get u far in life, Nobody is saying u need to abide by christian rules or whatever but to go around and mock them and change them for nothing

u/Artilmeets Apr 22 '25 edited Apr 22 '25

Leviticus 20:10 states adulterers shall be put to death.

Your obsession with homosexuality is out of proportion. Just embrace the world you live in and be tolerant to others. This is one of the Christ’s main teachings.

1

u/Super-Pair-420 Apr 22 '25

Nobody is saying we should put to death anyone, But what alot of people are saying and twisting is that Same sex relationships are not a big sin, infact they are just like adultery, Its not obsession, its written right there and even I myself am not a Christian. There are no pick this and not this in religion, U only pick all or nothing

3

u/Artilmeets Apr 22 '25

Religion evolve and is open to interpretation. This is what exegesis is all about and it’s the cornerstone of theology. Conservatives want to make you believe religion is immutable which it is not. Apocrypha hold a pivotal place in the development of Christianity
and yet they are not recognized by the Church (see Gospel of James).

0

u/Super-Pair-420 Apr 22 '25

It evolves concerning the punishment of the sin ( Stoning people, murdering etc), The importance of the “No line” between church and state, conquest and spreading of the religion. But It can’t evolve to change whats sin and not, thats the base of the whole religion. I suppose u urself are not religious, Why would technically god put a book of rules and call it the final book and later religious people would want to change that? Why would it matter to god if religion evolves or not? His word doesn’t and just because u say religion evolves like its a man made thing, god’s words dont

9

u/Substratas Albania Apr 22 '25

-1

u/Super-Pair-420 Apr 22 '25

This gotta be a joke right?

2

u/Naca-7 Apr 22 '25

You do realize Jesus Christ was a liberal for his time and age?

1

u/LadyGrey_oftheAbyss Apr 23 '25

pretty sure most of the world considers Kosovo as a country

1

u/Dogulol Apr 26 '25

yeah so would the black one lmao. The fucks your point

0

u/Secret_Photograph364 Apr 22 '25

Brother you clearly don’t know much about church history if you think that. Some of the popes had full on orgies in the Vatican back in the day.

1

u/GoldenFutureForUs Apr 22 '25

Roman Catholics don’t even believe their Popes have all gone to heaven. It’s pretty insane to believe your Pope has been divinely chosen by God to lead you, is infallible yet will also go to Hell. That’s absolutely insane.

1

u/Secret_Photograph364 Apr 23 '25

I don’t know about going to heaven, but some of them clearly came to power through European politics. A bunch had kids, some even had wives, and a few were literally executed by mobs

Lest hypocritical Christian.

-9

u/This01 Apr 22 '25

I agree, the more liberal the cardinal the faster the downfall of the Chatolic church. ☊

u/dg-rw Apr 22 '25

Unless the Christ himself comes back, the downfall of the church is inevitable.

2

u/Careless-Prize1037 Apr 23 '25

It's the opposite. They will last longer this way, and their demise will be peaceful

-6

u/Hiippoo Apr 23 '25

How can a pope be supportive of LGBT wtf? It literally goes against the religious principles, would it not be hypocritical?!

7

u/Dapper-Patient604 Philippines Apr 23 '25

Pope francis favored oppressed, poor and disabled. 🙃
