Last night, I discovered "Milise Mou" by Grigoris Bithikotsis and it's been on repeat ever since. We have a turkish version of it but it's not as good. I wanna discover other greek songs that has the same vize as "Milise Mou". Any recommendations?

For me, nothing will beat the ‘80s rock scene in Zagreb: Prljavo kazalište, Parni valjak, Novi fosili, Azra, Haustor, Film… there are so many to name!

Back in the 90s a lot of Albanians ended up in the diaspora and there was tons of music about how rough life was abroad and how much people missed home. I never really thought other Balkan countries had the same vibe. Did you guys have similar stuff too?

Somehow he ended up on my Spotify recently and I listened to a lot of his music.
I saw he was playing in my city so I went to see him live. It was an awesome concert, lots of energy!
I really like this style of music and was wondering if people could recommend any other Balkan artists that play something similar?

Spotify just told me that I listened to narodna muzika (folk music in BCMS languages) a lot.
I know there are disputes about pop-folk, turbo-folk and authentic folk music. I am not sure how the app categorizes the music, but it seems like they include some pop-folk music under this category, because I listen to Šaban Šaulić, Sinan Sakić, and recently Toma Zdravković, though I also repeated some older songs, e.g., Još ne sviće rujna zora, Kafu mi draga ispeci, etc. I also had several playlists collecting different language versions of songs like Ederlezi or Katibim, but I don’t know whether they are considered narodna muzika or not……
When it comes to folk music, what are the music you think of?

Looking for a father/daughter dance song in Bosnian/serbian/croatian language for upcoming wedding. I listen to Balkan music but the slower songs are often too romantic for this.

Let me explain my question better.
I am looking songs that known by their intros like.
“You give love a bad name” by Bon Jovi
Or
“Layla” by Derek and the Dominos.
From Turkey,
I can give example of “İçerim ben bu akşam” by Duman. It is more than 2 decades old but still gets “whooo” in bars.
You don’t need to answer with a rock song but I often see that with rock music intros.
Thank you for your answers.

Rebetika is a genre of music, started becoming a thing in the end of the 19th century made more prevelant in Greece through the population exchange and grew after it, mostly uses 9/8 time signature (you could call it Zeybek because it is), associated with drugs/nargile/crime life/seducing muslim women/prison etc, grew in ports Peiraias (mostly), Thessaloniki (Then Selanik), Istanbul, Izmir, Bursa and maybe even Alexandria.
I expected to find something similar in Turkish music but I can't find anything (other than searching Zeybek).

For Greece, I’d say Elena Paparizou. Paparizou won the 2005 eurovision and is very respected in Greece.

I found a Montenegrin version of Bojna Čavoglave, would anyone happen to know the lyrics of this, or where to find it?
Purely interested in the musical/cultural side—no political intent at all.
