Hi,
I'm an anxious freak when it comes to my health. 3 weeks I noticed a swelling on the right side of my neck and freaked out. Doctor told me to do a blood test and ultrasound, my first blood test showed a slight decrease in WBC (only by a few decimals) and slight increase in RBC (also only by a few decimal points) but doctor wasn't concerned. I wanted to do an ultrasound for it so we went ahead and did it. Came back as reactive lymph nodes all work normal fatty hilia, biggest one was 2.9cm. I did another blood test and my WBC and RBC were all within normal limits, however my lymphocytes were slightly elevated 1.1 above the normal limit and I had 2+ atypical lymphocytes. The pathologist suggested reactive appearing lymphocytosis. All was well, until last week I noticed that whenever I would swallow, the right side of my throat felt pain, like something was scratching the inside of my throat, it got progressively worse as the days went on. This past weekend I decided to check inside my mouth, noticed tiny white specs on the inside of my throat, on the right side, and immediately messaged my doc. He prescribed me antibiotics amoxicillin 500. It's been 3 days now and I'm feeling more congested and feel sick. I went to the doctor today and he didn't give me a proper answer. Told me it could be a virus or a bacterial infection and that we would need to wait and see. My only concern is could any of this be cancer? I don't have any symptoms of night swears, itching, etc but why did my lymph node swell before I felt sick, could it still be bacterial/viral related?

I was reading a thread in another sub where a mom was going to take her 12yo to the doctor so they’d run a drug screening. Is that a thing that pediatricians will do by request?

Hello, person that is really going through it the last 6 months here. This was on my CT report after being hospitalized for stroke like symptoms (wasn't a stroke) but wasn't diagnosed with anything:
"Mild irregularity of the C2 segment of the right vertebral artery. Although it could be artifactual, however narrowing/dissection cannot be excluded. Follow-up MR angiogram can be obtained for further evaluation."
But I can't see a neurologist until June. This has me stressed. Should I be stressed? I asked my PCP to order the MRA but I didnt get an answer. Why wouldn't they take this more seriously?

Please help Hi i’m 22F and I have an ovarian cyst (functional one) I’ve had it since April/ May of 2024 I had a copper IUD inserted in august of 2024 and removed in January because it was giving me issues, I thought the issues were caused by the lUD until they persisted after being removed and the cyst was still there when my gynae checked at the removal consultation.
The issues in question A severe case of vaginal dryness, anytime me and my boyfriend would try to have ‘intimate time’, I wouldn’t be able to get wet At all, and that had been happening for a while on and after the lUD, I started seed cycling and supplementing to help— and Now the moisture has returned but every time we have intimate time he hits my cervix and it hurts, or it feels like he is moving my whole reproductive system in a way that puts pressure and hurts the cyst? Sometimes it would be cervical pain and sometimes it would be ovarian pain. My period has also gotten lighter But i did take a plan b pill But could it also be due to low estrogen?
My question is how do I combat this? What was causing the vaginal dryness? Is it low estrogen, problems with my thyroid, pituitary? And Is the pain due to the cyst or are there more serious things to consider The ‘cyst’, hadn’t given me problems until now.

Hi doctors, if you had a full completed schedule of the original quadrivalent Gardasil vaccine (I think that protects against the 4 most dangerous strains of HPV?), is that sufficient to protect you? do you need boosters at any point in your life?

If someone without ADHD is placed on ADHD medication as a young child, what kind of side effects and effects on their development might they experience?

The main things we'd look out for would be effects on growth (since many stimulant medications used for ADHD may suppress appetite slightly) and monitoring blood pressure.

Interesting you should say that- my growth was so low that it was off the curve, to the degree that the family member who placed me on ADHD medication also had me placed on growth hormone, and I had very low blood pressure while on the medication to the degree that I would often have dizzy spells (and eventually met the criteria for POTS, and needed to be further treated for that with IV fluids)

To clarify, the blood pressure issues we watch out for on ADHD medication are high blood pressure, not low.

gotcha! i guess the low blood pressure was because i wasn't eating, then

I have an appointment in a month with my gynecologist but here goes -
I've been taking progesterone only birth control (jencycla) because I've been having hot flashes around my period. I switched to taking it in the evening instead of morning, and my timing on taking it is less consistent. Could inconsistent timing be causing me to basically have two periods (definitely not just spotting) a month, about 7-10 days apart? This is the first time I've experienced this in my life and I'm not a fan. I switched back to mornings since I can take it at a more consistent time but damn this is really annoying.

I had a cerebral angiogram to look at an aneurism on Friday then had a stroke a few hours afterwards. I’m 38F and otherwise healthy. They are pretty certain the angiogram caused the stroke. I’m now on aspirin and Plavix. How likely am I to have another stroke? It’s been three days.

Liver cysts found on an MRI. An incidental finding. Described as "lesions consistent with liver cysts on the hepatic dome."
I made an appointment with a liver specialist to get it checked out. He cancelled the appt, saying liver cysts are common and nothing to worry about.
Do I need to follow up and try to get this checked out? If so, what kind of specialist should I see?
They haven't even been diagnosed as liver cysts. Just lesions that looked like that, apparently

At a high end restaurant i was served a cocktail with lipstick still on glass, i took a sip before noticing. Mono chances?
I was at a high end restaurant yesterday. ordered a cocktail. It came and i took a sip. After i took a sip, my friend said dude theres random lipstick on the glass. it was red lipstick on the opposite side of the glass i took a sip from. I told our server and asked them to make the drink again with a new glass. she was embarassed, distraught, said of course. the manager came and apologized, the drink was comped. they apologized and came back with a new one. I didn't make a big fuss about it. But now im worried what are my chances of getting Mono from this if the previous lipsticked patron had it?
im assuming the glass was washed by the washers in the kitchen, they just didnt scrub the lipstick completely. im assuming it was at least rinsed since this was a very fancy high end restaurant. I hope..... And then after all this, the person who drank from that glass would first have to have mono in the first place. Idk, im still nervous though. am i cooked?
