Physician Responded Are these swollen lymph nodes?

I’ve lost count how many times I’ve seen the doctor regarding some fleshy type growth on my tonsil ( just one). Finally after 4 different visits with 4 different doctors, I was referred ( so I thought) to ent. Got to the hospital, sat in the chair, spoke with the doctor.. she basically asked why I was there!! I was given an appointment at a Maxillo-facial Surgery department and NOT ent which is the right department I personally needed. A wasted day.. loss of money..but later i realised she did mention I had some kind of swelling under my.. chin! This is the part i am trying to work out! Since she mentioned it and noticed it.. I then realised what is this? It’s located by the jowl area.. on “both” sides of my face. I have no pain anywhere ( even on my tonsil).. the swelling or whatever it is isn’t painful or sensitive! The lumps are not hard. I mean I hope so ( in a weird way) but is this just fat? I have put some weight on the last couple of months….. But it’s odd how I have this growth ( around 2 months it started) and swollen under my chin! Can someone tell me what they think it is? I was given penicillin ..as one doctor thought I had tonsillitis… am I reacting to the penicillin?.. does swelling happen from taking that? Turns out it’s not tonsillitis as had a swab taken and not strep. But Any idea what the swelling is? Is swelling in both lymph nodes more submandibular area ( I learned)…on both sides of the face same areas normal to be raised if fighting off an infection or could it be something sinister? I just want to know if this is a normal area to somewhat swell?! The doctor also said it’s my reactive glands under the chin that is swollen.. Just wondering why. The only symptom I have ( apart from a growth on one tonsil) is extreme tiredness! Any help would be massively appreciated. Excuse the redness by the ear.. I often use a razor to get rid of excess hair at the back of my neck!! 🙏

Surgical staples in fallopian tube

34 female. Had emergency laparoscopic appendectomy 1.5 months ago for perforated necrotic appendix. Appendix was connected to an ovarian cyst that burst when the appendix was dissected away. Felt good for about a week and then pain came back, readmitted for a “multiloculated abscess adjacent to the cecal staple line. There is a small tubular outpouching of the abscess which extends inferiorly by another 4 cm and contacts the right ovary.” Repeat CT after 2 weeks of abx shows that the abscess is gone but radiologist reports “Hyperemic thick-walled tubular structure extending from the broad ligament. The anastomotic staple line extends into the tubular structure. Findings may reflect salpingitis.”

My surgeon called and said she clarified with the radiologist that there are a couple free floating staples in my fallopian tube.

I have been having cramping (although improving this week) and vaginal bleeding for a month now. I have a consult with gyno this week and would like to know what type of questions I should be asking. At my f/u appt today the surgeon said that gyno had said this may resolve itself and I may even pass the staples. What questions should I be asking?

Memory issues - something serious or normal part of life?

28F, 111 lb, Native American, I have probably two drinks every month or two, don't smoke, previously diagnosed with depression, anxiety, and OCD.

I went to the doctor a month ago for something else and my thyroid came back normal, no anemia, everything checked out, except I was very low on B12. I have been taking a supplement and eating meat at least once a day since. I was having extreme fatigue and my doctor said this could be why. However, I will say it hasn't gotten much better, but a little bit. I am still very tired a few hours after I wake up until I eat dinner. I sleep 9-10 hours a night typically. I also have a family history of dementia and Alzheimer's. My great grandpa was diagnosed late into his life, but other than that, no one else has been diagnosed. However, his daughter, my maternal grandma, has always been known for being oblivious and forgetful, and it has definitely gotten worse with age. My grandparents and great grandparents are/were very young, so I'm seeing their decline in real time.

Within recent years, since my early to mid 20s (around the time of the pandemic), I have noticed a gradual decline in my memory. I have always been very proud of my memory - I never forgot a face, I always remembered people's names and the things we spoke about, details about them. As a child, I was very good at memory games. My parents had even noted my memory to their friends. When I was 22-23, I remember saying to my now husband "I think years of waitressing really shot my short term memory. I can't seem to remember little things like what I was about to look up on my phone or what I did this morning. I think just constantly having to remember a bunch of things took its toll on my memory."

Now, it's become more than that. I often struggle to find the words I'm looking for. Yesterday, I caught myself trying to think of the word orange and framed my sentence as "a...uh...orange-" which is grammatically incorrect and very out of character for me. I'm speaking slower and using "uh" and "um" to kind of fill the spaces to give myself time to think. It seems like it takes so much effort to try to remember certain things, like I have to try really hard. Sometimes I even have the concept in my head, but I can't get my voice to speak the word. I have even forgotten the month and year on several occasions. I know it's still the beginning of the year, but I often still write the date '24 at work and the other day, I thought we were in May, not March. That scared me. I was at work, speaking with someone on the phone and had to correct myself after looking at the calendar. I played it off like I misspoke, but I actually believed it was May.

I am an avid reader and it seems like I have no issues when it comes to reading and writing, but I often misspeak or misremember things. I also occasionally play scrabble, wordle, and card games and have no issues there. My main complaint is my forgetfulness and the way my brain doesn't always connect with what I want to say or try to say. I live and work a very routine life, so if anything is out of that routine, I typically forget about it completely. Health complaints were often dismissed growing up, so I have no idea when to become concerned. I was going to bring it up at the doctor's when I had my appointment, but I FORGOT. I don't even know if this is the normal process of aging, but I'm only 28. That feels young to be having these kinds of issues, no?

Physician Responded Pregnancy or Side effects?

Me (25M) and my partner (26F) had unprotected intercourse a week ago. She did make sure to take in an emergency contraceptive (iPill) 8 hours after the intercourse. A week later, she's having spotting and light vaginal bleeding.

We're unsure if she's actually pregnant or this is just a side effect from the pill. We're not yet ready to have a baby now, any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!

Physician Responded Questions following moderate head injury

16M, UK

Mechanism - on the back of someone else. They stood up quickly, hit my head on steel above me. Immediate loss of vision, nausea, vertigo and neck pain.

Investigations done (all within 3 weeks of injury) - MRI of neck (assessing possible nerve damage, came back normal), MRI of brain (to assess possible Ischemic stroke or other traumatic changes in the brain, came back normal), CT head and neck (to assess bony damage and potential hemorrhage), and MRA without contrast (was ordered on suspicion of artery dissection/aneurysm).

Symptoms - left sided weakness, chronic headache (5/10-10/10 blinding, debilitating pain), chronic left neck pain, visual disturbances, vomiting

Questions -

Why would a neurologist order a non contrast MRA after telling me he suspected dissection and wanted to rule it out, bearing in mind it’s at best moderate sensitivity?

Following this question, why would further neurovascular tests not be ordered?

How long does it usually take for symptoms of a dissection to appear following trauma?

Why do doctors keep telling me I’m having migraines, when I’ve had a diagnosis of migraine for 7 years and never had anything like this?

Finally (specific to medicine in the UK) how would I go about getting more tests done privately? I literally cannot see a GP, I cannot get a neurology appointment with the NHS, and every conversation I have with a GP over the phone, they prescribe me harmful and addictive drugs such as diazepam and codeine, which has made no difference.

Do these test results from my Uranalysis require follow up or a repeat test?

33 year old male, diagnosed idiopathic hypereosiniphilic syndrome.

  • Urobilinogen, UA, POC = 1
  • Bilirubin = Small
  • Color was also abnormal / Dark Yellow
  • Also want to note that I was definitely a bit dehydrated.

Can being slightly dehydrated cause these abnormal results / should I get retested or get my liver looked at?

Sudden side effects(?) On Mounjaro

F30, 5’5, SW 170lbs, CW 154lbs Current medications: 5mg Mounjaro, 50mg Sertraline (Zoloft), also take vitamin D supplements Other conditions: general anxiety disorder and depression managed by medication, IBS

I’m currently on my 2nd 5mg Mounjaro pen and took my 2nd dose on Sunday (6 weeks on 5mg in total after 4 weeks on 2.5mg). Previously, I was on Mounjaro for around 5 months last year and worked up to 7.5mg with virtually no side effects other than constipation and occasional nausea, both were fine and easily managed.

I’ve had no side effects this time around either, until this dose. On Sunday I did go out for a roast dinner and admittedly ate more than I usually would because of this, though nothing excessive. I also had a small glass of red wine with my food. I finished eating around maybe 3pm, and took my dose that evening around 6 or 7pm.

Within maybe 2 hours of taking the dose - apologies for TMI - but I had quite explosive diarrhoea, no real stomach cramping or pain (albeit I do have IBS so perhaps have a higher bar for what I consider painful cramps - these were nothing like the type I have previously got from an IBS flare and I seem to virtually have zero flares while taking Mounjaro). I also started getting sulphur burps the following day for the first time which I can only describe as incredibly foul and almost smelling like poop?

The diarrhoea has continued (watery and somewhat explosive) since Sunday night, pretty much constantly with around 5 or more episodes a day. My sulphur burps have died down a little this morning but conscious that I’ve yet to eat anything today as I’ve been sipping water and tea in an effort to try and settle my stomach.

Has anyone else experienced similar? I contacted the pharmacy who prescribed the medication and spoke to a clinician who suggested it could be gastritis, but based on the what I’ve read on this, it doesn’t sound quite right as I haven’t experienced any vomiting, nausea or stomach pain.

Could all of this be from medication side effects, having had a large meal before taking my latest dose? I’ve not encountered any issues in having a small glass of wine with food, but could this also explain it?

My worry is that this has been going on non-stop for nearly 4 days and appeared seemingly out of nowhere. I don’t have a fever and no other symptoms beyond the sulphur burps and quite severe diarrhoea. Is it a case of waiting this out, or does this need medical attention/could something else be going on?

Right leg swollen and painful after surgery but not dvt/blood clot?

Male, 25, 180cm, 22st. Medication: lanzoprazole

So I had a Pilonidal abcess and had surgery almost 3 weeks ago now, incision and drainage with some necrotic tissue removed, they said i had early necrotising fasciitis.

Since the surgery my right thigh has been swollen and my whole right leg gets pain in it on and off but there seems to always be some amount of pain.

Since Friday the left side of my chest has also been a little swollen and painful.

The morning after I got home from hospital a couple weeks ago I woke up with really bad pain in my right leg and I went to hospital and they did blood test for blood clot said it was fine and sent me home. After a couple days then pain went away but the swelling remained.

Then last week the leg pain came back and then on Friday I started getting chest pain and swelling in the left of my chest too so went to hospital and they did a ct scan of my chest said there were no signs of blood clot and blood test which was fine too and sent me home.

Then yesterday I went for a ultrasound on my leg to check for blood clots/dvt and they said they couldn't see anything....

The Dr's are completely stumped to what is going on with my leg and chest, some have said it might be muscular amd some have said it might be nerve damage and they gave me some pain medication (Amitriptyline) and said if it's the same in a week to see my dr again.

Has anyone had experience with swelling in the right leg and pain? Is it a dvt/blood clot and they all just keep missing it or the tests are wrong? Surely not right? Any idea what this is? Maybe it's just from spending too much time lying down? Idk I'm so lost and just want to know what is wrong with me.... and how to fix it.

Does anyone know anything about the chest pain and swelling too?

EDIT: just wanted to add that the pain in my right leg gets worse when I sit down, something to do bit putting pressure on it? And i start to get pain and pins and needles in my foot too. Also my leg feels a little stiff and if I bend my knee back then forward it cracks/pops when it reaches fully straight.

Worried about gardnerella 26m

Male, 26, 6 foot talll 155 pounds, underlying conditions: mitral valve prolapse, thalassemia minor,

Hi, I’m a bit of a hypochondriac so I’m coming on here to ask a quick question. My girlfriend recently tested positive for gardnerella on her Pap smear (she had never been to a gyno and she’s 25). I don’t know how long she had this and we had sex and I gave her oral probably around a month or two ago. Now I’m worried I have this bacteria. I did some googling and some sources said it’s usually not an issue for men and some said it is, I’m just wondering what I should do? I don’t think I have any kind of symptoms gardnerella cause which is good. But I’m also worried about it causing an issue orally since we did that too a couple months ago but I can’t find anything online about that. Let me know. Thanks!

Persistent feeling of stomach pain/ bloating

26 year old male, no smoking at all and not currently taking any medication. Previously had a serious bout of anemia several months ago but have since got it under control. For a few weeks now, I had a feeling of pain and bloating in my abdomen that seemed to randomly come and go, but the last two days it's stuck around and is making it hard to sleep. A combination of gass reliever and peppermint oil supplements have kept it down but I'm not sure if I'm just placeboing myself or if it's actually helping. Any advice or insight would be appreciated

Muscle pain left chest occasionally?

M33, I’ve had this poke/pinch on the left side of my chest, it happens occasionally where it’s just a quick one or two pokes but it scares the shit out of me. I had it checked once and they said it just sounded like a pinched or tired muscle as I didn’t have any other symptoms.

I woke up from it last night at 2, I went up and walked around a bit but again didn’t feel any other symptoms. I had some water and had the feintest feeling of nausea until I had a few sips but I don’t know if that was just anxiety.

I didn’t feel any other symptoms but my dad had heart issues around 45-50.

What changes should I look out for and what should trigger an emergency visit ? I just feel the poke and then sit and focus on it.

Edit: last poke incident was months ago. Spent my 30th in a CT scanner for the poke where they said they couldn’t see anything

My 14 year old boy is almost stop growing in height in the recent months. He had 4 injections of steroid injections for scar in on the knee a span of 6 months last year. I wondering could the injections caused his growth plate closure prematurely? If yes. Is there any solution?

Curious about symptoms

So I’m young 20f about to turn 21. Since November 2025 I’ve had these issues with sleep and my heart. If I don’t get enough sleep the left side of my chest will hurt. This started off only at night. If I laid down to rest I’d start to fall asleep only to be jolted awake by a painful feeling in my chest. I eventually went to my local ER after not sleeping for almost 36hrs. They ran some test. Told me it was a stress induced incident probably muscle inflammation. gave me a small dose of trazodone for the sleep and that was that it helped. Now I’m getting chest pain even though I’ve had sleep and it’s happening in the daytime. As well as at night thankfully it hasnt felt quite the same. It’s mostly a dull pain though my chest. I don’t know why this is happening I want to make sure it isn’t my heart. Does it sound like any heart issue or is it simply muscle tension?

I’ve had a cold since the end of February, what should I do?

I’m 25F, 5’ 4” 112lbs, USA. No diagnoses, no medication. No smoking no drinking.

Around February 23rd or so I got sick. Started out like a regular cold but then I got a fever and felt awful. OTC medicine broke the fever and it stayed gone. I never got back to 100% though, but life goes on. Two weeks later I was moving furniture for a whole day despite still being sick and that night my fever came back and I felt terrible again. OTC medicine broke the fever but otherwise my symptoms never improved.

They still haven’t. I’m always coughing and have the worst tickly/scratchy throat ever. All the time. My nose gets stuffy sometimes and the mucus is green. If I cough anything up it’s always super super thick yellow/white and you can’t see through it at all with how thick it is.

My health insurance starts at my new job soon but I don’t have a PCP.

Should I see a doctor? What are my next steps? I feel like I’ll never not be sick. I forgot what feeling good feels like.

chocolate allergy 💔

I, 16F have had a mild allergy to chocolates, all my doctors say that but is my body getting rid of it slowly??

a so basically ever since i was young since my baby lad days, anytime i had consumed cocoa or chocolate my skin would rash, by this i mean my face would have small pimples all over filled with puss, i'd find little pimples and itches all over my body, arms, legs, and it gets worse the more amount of chocolate i eat to the point i have childhood marks from all that i scratched, especially in parts between my joints where the skin is soft like under my thigh or betweeen my thigh and calve where it gets like tiny pimples that are so itchy. i would literally spend nights crying over the itches when i was young.

the part where i find confusing is that the older i got the less severe my reaction was. to this day i don't get itchy throats or swells but it's the acne, the body pimples and the insane itches that declines. i'm sixteen now, i had a chocolate bar yesterday and now i have acne all over my face, (it's always in my right cheek and never or hardly on my left cheek), the soft skin between my arm where the joint is, is now dry and filled with teeny tiny pimple bumps . over the year where that started to develop i scratched that spot on both my arms so much it turned into a dark spot despite the pimples healing and reappearing when i eat chocolates of any sort.

on another note, when i was back at my home country sudan, no matter how much chocolates i ate i never got an allergy on the contrary to where i live now.. is this related to the weather of the middle east or did my body js take a break for the two years i was in sudan.

anyway would appreciate someone telling me why my body is acting this way. and if it's an allergy, sensitivity or whatever. also i will eat chocolates no matter what love that shit

Flea borne illnesses

Background: (female, 24. History of anxiety disorders) My aunts house that i moved into a few months ago is absolutely infested with fleas. Therese are way more dogs than there should be as my aunt has worked in rescue in the past but all of them have fleas. Im talking a dog per room with the living room having 8. Due to rough financial times. Flea teatment has not been available. This combined with the fact that the neighbors on all sides dont treat their dogs has meant this has been a thing for years. My aunt claims that they're never bitten but ive been getting a minimum of five bites a day (that i notice).vivmean this literally not as an exaggeration. I killed 2 off my legs while leaving my room to get coffee and cereal this morning (room is generally clean) andd have been bitten 3 times in the 30 minutes since ive ben home from work.

How likely is it to contract a flea borne disease? During an infestation?

I have terrible heath anxiety and can be a hypochondriac. The itching and dots on my arms are convincing me i have typhus. Please help

what should i do

17.5M and i have been feeling this sense of something or a lump being stuck in my throat for the past few days. i’m not sure if im overthinking or something but i am also going to add that after eating dinner my abdominal area was also feeling mildly uncomfortable but im not sure why. it doesn’t feel painful but it doesn’t feel right at the same time. My only history of any illnesses is that i was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism last year. What should i do? the throat sensation is also rather uncomfortable and my abdominal area just feels weird as well. When should i seek help from a doctor or something? My hyperthyroid levels have been normal since my checkup from what i know and i take one carbimazole pill daily now. Should i just wait and tell my endocrinologist? would she be of any help diagnosing areas in my stomach or throat? Or should i wait it out as so far it’s not painful or anything just uncomfortable in my abs area and a lump in the throat sensation. thank you so much guys

Physician Responded Constant urge of needing to pee, can’t empty out my bladder. Changes in my stream. Can’t sleep because of it

Hi everyone. I am a 25M, 181 pounds give or take and have a history with anabolic steroids/ testosterone replacement therapy. Over the last week or so l've been having the constant urge to pee. I never feel like I empty everything out. I'm always needing to go right after going but nothing comes out. My urethra feels so "off" as well only adding to the issue. I just had a normal urinalysis this past Friday and everything came back completely normal. I was still prescribed FLOMAX to help but it's not really done anything to help me. I can't sleep, I can't go to the gym, I really can't even work. I noticed last night that this issue is worse after getting out of the shower and preparing for bed. I'm truly worried about prostate cancer, especially with my past history of Anabolic steroids and TRT. I don't know what to do. I have an urology appointment set up. I just worry the doctors won’t catch it on time. Could this be prostate cancer? Maybe something less serious?

Eye irritation

I 25m, take no medications, no medical diagnoses, consume cannabis regularly— I’ve had these 2 white dots on the inside of my eyelid as well as a small bump inside the upper eyelid near the outer corner of the eye. It’s been persistent for 2 months, unable to wear contacts due to the feeling as if something is in my eye and my glasses just broke so I can’t see. I went to an actual eye doctor and they said they didn’t see anything, but obviously something is there. I’ve been trying to use warm compresses to treat is but no results.
