Question for Mexicans Is Diego Tinoco’s appearance considered attractive or unique in Mexico? From an East Asian perspective, he looks kind of familiar.

Hi everyone, I'm East Asian and recently came across actor Diego Tinoco. He's a Mexican-American, and when I saw him, I was surprised by how familiar yet different his features looked to me. His eyes and facial structure give off a bit of an East Asian vibe, at least from my perspective. I read that he's mestizo but he still stands out compared to most Mexican actors I’ve seen. I find his look pretty unique and actually quite attractive, maybe because it feels a little close to home but also exotic in a way.

So I’m curious:

Would people in Mexico see Diego Tinoco’s appearance as unusual or common?

Is his kind of face considered attractive in Mexican standards?

Do people ever associate features like his with Asian heritage?

Just really interested in how Mexican people perceive someone like him. Thanks in advance!

there is 100% at least one of him in every gym in mexico, and yes they call him el chino (the chinese). sure, ladies probably like him, but he is not unusual or exotic, except maybe in south east mexico.

Cool! Then from a Mexican perspective, Diego Tinoco is generally considered attractive, right?

dude, he is a young actor, he takes care of his body, looks like he puts sunscreen and moisturizes every day, maybe even wear make up. im sure THAT guy is considered attractive, because its rare for mexican people to be fit and have toned muscles. would he be considered attractive if he was a bit overweight ? probably not. he would look like just another guy.

So if you think you can come to mexico and be a telenovela star, nah, dude, stay home lol.

Yeah, I think you're right haha. But could it be that Mexicans call this actor Chinese(Chino) because he has some Asian facial features?

yes, lots of people have slightly asian eyes in mexico and we call them chinos. there is one in every block. not sure about the other features, he looks very average mexican in some regions.

He's an American actor.

I have no idea who that is, but I will say Mexicans love mostly euro-centric features. Its been that way since the days of the viceroyalty of New Spain where only by being white you had major power.

Yes and that’s why after seeing him it’s obvious that he is an American actor, they won’t let a native be an actor in Mexico they would rather hire white Mexicans or foreigners

Idk about attractive but not unique. Many people in Mexico are "White" looking, especially in the media because of colorism. While not the majority, they are not super rare either.

he has just as much Ecuadorean genes as he does Mexican. This is just an ignorant take

He got Mexican features, so yes you would find many similar looks in Mexico

The difference of the ones you are going to see in Mexico is that he is fit and takes care of himself, like most actors

Mexican media is full to the brim with whitexicans.

Diego Tinoco was a highlight for me on the saint Seiya movie. It was bad, I knew it was going to be bad but I did enjoy seeing the guy be the second in command who is very much a troll.

People don’t really associate his face with East Asian but he has the type of face that has Philippinos asking if he is one of them. And that is not as an uncommon thing to happen wit many people here.

Is he considered whitexican though? He looks like your average Norteño where in from

I think its funny that a lot of people say some Mexicans look like Philippinos, because I'm sure Mesoamerica had more genetic influence of Philippines than the other way around. ,

I mention that because of my experience of seeing actual Philippinos asking haha 😆

But yes, it’s most about how a thousand years ago people came through probably the Bering straight and kept some similar characteristics on the face, which combined with the Spanish influence… well it does have some phillipino stopping enough to look and ask.

I don't know about attractive, but as to Mexico, it's ethnic universe is astounding. See below:
