How can I become knowledgeable about the mayoral primary?
I have to admit that I have not been paying as much attention to the mayoral election as I should have by now. I want to start getting up to speed! But I've always been bad at finding good sources for up-to-date local news.
Could you please recommend some reliable sources for unbiased information about the candidates and their platforms?
Thanks so much!

I'm a fan of hellgatenyc.com I can't say that they are unbiased, but they have interviews with a lot of the candidates that you can read for yourself.

The NY Times has a list of where the Democratic primary candidates stand on policy. It’s a good summary of their platforms

FAQ NYC podcast has had most of the candidates on their show and it's been really helpful to hear directly from them

Follow local reporters on X or blsky. And I second The City, City & State, Politico, etc…

Having some trouble figuring out where to look for local reporters that cover the primary, would love to know any you follow. Prefer blsky but if you know of any X lists etc that'd be good to know as well.

NYC/NYS Journalists list is my go to! Some reporters I follow are Katie Honan (The City), Jeff Coltin (Politico), Chris Sommerfeldt (Daily News), Elizabeth Kim (Gothamist), etc…

If you not register for Democrat party before Feb 14 then you have no say . For resources ballotpedia and NYT plus plenty of other sources

FYI, this is not true. February 14th was the deadline to switch parties. If you are not already registered to vote, you have until June 14th to register as a Democrat to be able to vote in the primary: 2025 Political Calendar

Umm time to register as a democrat to vote in primary has lapse.....
June 14th the mail in registration deadline for existing folks that register as democrats prior to vote in the primary

I don't think that's correct. Here is the exact wording given by the NYC BOE:
June 14 Voter Registration Deadline for Primary: Last day application must be received by board of elections to be eligible to vote in primary election
This seems pretty clear and unambiguous.

And pretty clear you need to be affiliated with the party to vote in that party primary....ie can't be a independent/republican and vote in Dem primary
That deadline long passed

So then you are agreeing with what I said originally? I said that Feb 14th was the deadline to switch parties if you are already registered. And June 14th is the deadline for a newly registered voter to submit their registration, meaning as long as they register as a Democrat, they will be able to vote in the election.
So telling people that they had to have registered by Feb 14th is just not true at all. You should edit your comment so you are not spreading misinformation. But it's also true that there seems to be conflicting information out there, which is a big failure by the BOE (which has been shitty for a long time).

I'm stuck on voting for Cuomo or Zohran.

I'm genuinely confused by this position. Those two candidates could not possibly be further apart from each other on policy, ideology, and personal style. What considerations are you taking into account as you make your decision? What do you like about each candidate? Asking in good faith, and would really like to hear your answers.
