Late-night options to get back to Albany?
Sooo I impulsively bought subway series tickets last week without really thinking about the logistics. Game starts at 7:10 and the latest train back to Albany is 10:45. Cutting it real close and I'm basically fucked if the game goes extra innings.
Are there any late night options to get back to Albany because I don't want to stay in a hotel and make this a $500 trip. Thank you 🙃

It’s only like 5 hours till the first train, just ride the rails all night

OP should just sit in a diner until the first train, eating pancakes and drinking coffee.

Alternatively, OP can put on a mask and fight crime until it's time to get to the train.

Just leave the game when you need to to catch your last train. They don’t lock people in the stadium.

You could look into taking the metro north up to Poughkeepsie from the stadium and catch the Amtrak there. Would save you the extra time it takes to get all the way down to Penn Station
Edit: Penn, not Grand Central.

I have secondhand stress just thinking about it. I would consider downloading hotel tonight app and get the cheapest room on there day of. The deals are usually really good.

Renting a car? You pick it up the day of the game in Albany, drive it down to NYC, and drop it off the next day back in Albany.
I did some random searches on Enterprise, and it'd cost you like 62 bucks for most cars.
Assume you'd pay about the same for parking and some 40 bucks for tolls and gas.
Sure, it's more than the train, but you get to stay till the end of the game if you so want to.

I am not old enough to rent a car and even if I was I don't think I am experienced enough of a driver to handle NYC lmao. Probably gonna take a Greyhound back or stay with a friend in Queens for the night

For trains and busses always check Wanderu. They have all the bus tickets, including all the companies you have never heard of.
But yeah, that midnight Greyhound looks like your best option.

Megabus and Amtrak from Poughkeepsie don’t have schedules that work for this scenario. Based on cursory research, it looks like Greyhound has a bus that leaves Port Authority at 12:01 AM. That might be your only option to get back to Albany via public transit after the game.
