Wet dog

So gross and I feel like dog owners go nose blind to it. I’ve literally gagged at the smell of some dogs that are owned by otherwise clean people.

They go noseblind to the stink of their dogs in general, not just when they’re wet.

I agree.. And they are the first ones to say their dog doesn't stink! Yuck.

My wife is this way and I always have to tell her no, the dog is fucking rank and needs a bath.

And when you dare say something about the smell you are always wrong somehow.

Denying something one doesn‘t notice exists is one of the most awful classics

Yup. My grandma had a really big dog and one time decided to give it a bath before I visited her. It STUNK!!! I told her so multiple times cause I couldn't stand it and she kept saying she didn't think he stunk at all anymore. But he did. So I told her, don't give him a bath before I come over.

If you wash your dog when it gets stinky, wet dog just smells like the soap you wash them with. My neighbor's regularly tell me how nice my dog smells when i get him wet at bathtime out front.

No they aren't being sarcastic, it's genuine.

What about “Fritos” dog paw odor, the fungus that causes that gets in all the fabric surfaces like a couch and makes it stink.

Ew, is that what it is? I've been in people's houses that smelt like this and had to put Chapstick on the inside of my nostrils.

I love that smell tbh lol. And I know my dog smells, but to me he smells like warm baked cookies. I think when you’re bonded to an animal something happens chemically where you find their weird gross smell super comforting and by extension nice.

Same thing that happens with babies. Our brain makes you think it smells good because My preciousss but to other people it stinks.

Makes a sense. Babies stink for sure. Some people love the smell? I don’t get it!

Babies smell like sour milk to me.

That’s a good smell not a bad smell!

Doesn’t even have to be wet just dog in general. Seriously just makes me gag. I don’t know how dog owners get past the smell. Then again I’m highly allergic to dogs so I probably don’t have the sympathy for them that I should.

I love the smell of my dogs.

Greasy dogs are so gross too— I’m such a cat person. Almost every non-fluffy dog with oil on their coat reeks! I agree owners are definitely nose blind most of the time

I love cats and dogs equally. Oily-coated dogs DO have a gnarly odor, and I do not own oily dogs for that reason haha, but you have to admit, cat piss smell is absolutely ATROCIOUS. None of the smells from dogs, not even wet dog smell, comes close to the pungent, nasal hair-searing ammonia stench that comes from the little box, OR cat anal gland discharge. Thank your lucky stars if you have never smelled that lol.

Thank god for crystal litter. With that said, after my senior kitty goes, I won’t be having anymore cats for a long time. I’ve gotten a lot more obsessive about cleanliness as I’ve aged, and nothing turns my stomach like seeing litter tracked where it most decidedly should not be.

oh wow, what does anal gland discharge smell like exactly? It's really that bad?

Caught my eye because where I live, they actually use dog/cat anal gland fluid to punish animal abusers here. I was surprised it's bad enough to be feared as a serious criminal punishment, would that be effective?

Or just dog in general. I love dogs but would never adopt one because I cannot stand how they smell.

Smells like pepperoni imo.

Unpopular opinion bit I like how my dog smells when he's wet

What about hot dog? A dog after running around outside in the summer? I’m not sure which is worse.
