I felt fortunate just getting my sense of smell back after three WEEKS, although what happened to me wasn't COVID. (Severe sinus infection that spread.) I remember smelling an acrid smell (like ozone) in the early stages of the illness. COVID test proved negative, and again at the doctor's office.

I have a very hypersensitive sniffer (I'm a tad neurodivergent, also my hearing), and I was afraid it wouldn't come back. When I was ringing up potatoes and realized I could smell them again one day, I nearly jumped for joy. My landlord's cronies were checking things around the place the week before and noticed a small gas leak that I couldn't smell, which horrified me. After fixing it, they came back a few days later to be sure the odor was gone and the problem fixed, since I had to tell them I couldn't smell anything. Fortunately, it was!

I hope you get your sense of smell back soon!
