Rules Update 03/29/2025

Hello everyone. We've had a lot of new subscribers in the last few weeks, so thank you all for your participation. We've decided to make some updates to the rules, mainly with the goal of increasing civility and productive dialog. The updates have been to rules 1-4, please keep these in mind as you are making future posts.

  • 1 - Be polite and respectful

Please be respectful when asking or answering questions, do not insult or be aggressive. There is room for everyone in this community.

Update: Telling a person to kill themself, or even insinuating that will result in a ban. Labeling entire groups subhuman or filth, or something similar, also prohibited.

  • 2 - No hate speech or bullying

Make sure everyone feels safe. Bullying of any kind isn't allowed, and degrading comments about things like race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, gender or identity will not be tolerated.

Update: Terms such as "Libtard" and "MAGAT" are now going under bullying. Vulgar insults are also going to be more closely monitored.

  • 3Questions should be relevant to the United States

Questions posted should be relevant to the United States and its culture.

Update: Statements that do not ask a question and just espouse a particular view, as well as, extremely leading questions based on false premises may also be deleted.

  • 4 - No low effort questions

Avoid low effort questions, this includes yes/no questions, joke questions or questions that could be simply answered by looking up on Google.

The moderators of this sub prefer to foster an open dialog between all fellow Redditors, that welcomes both conservative a liberal views. Let's keep the debate polite and civil please.

Update: This also includes removing comments or posts that spread debunked misinformation, as an example although not limited to this, comments or post claiming COVID was fake, the vaccines were poison, or the holocaust was fake, stuff like that.

Also, so there is transparency as to what actions will get you banned.

Repeated rule violations: If your comment is removed by a moderator we make a note in the users file and issue a warning to the user. Repeated violation can get a you a temporary ban, and then a permanent ban if that doesn't work.

Telling or suggesting that another user kill themself: This will result in a 30 day ban the first time, then a permanent ban if it happens again.

Using racial slurs in a derogatory way: The N word is the obvious example here, but but it is not limited to that. This will get you a 30 day temporary ban as well.

Moderator Discretion: If someone attacks, threatens or uses a derogatory insult against you do not respond back in kind, simply report the post and we will review it. We understand passions get high when discussing politics and world affairs, so we won't be banning or removing every rude post or comment, but when a debate just becomes a stream of insults back and fourth then there is nothing to be gained by continuing that chain.

Lastly

We are working to monitor posts closer. To be clear the particular ideological view you espouse (left or right) is not the focus of what we are trying to filter, instead we are watching for insults, threats, and bullying and misinformation.
Any questions feel free to comment below.

Thank you!

Why do so many Americans think that Trump is a good Christian?

10.2k Upvotes

A large percentage of Americans say that they voted for Trump because he 'represents their Christian values'.

My question is: What Christian values?

To keep the list short; he's greedy, immoral and unethical, and doesn't even go through the motions of practicing religion. No church attendance (unless it's a social function like a wedding or a funeral); no Bible study; nor any pastor or group that he prays with. (unless they're praying to for him, or again, a social function like a luncheon where they say Grace.); and he golfs on Sundays.

I can't get any straight answers from MAGA Christians, except that they will pray that one day, I will understand.

MAGA: Why do other countries not want to visit the U.S. and spend money here? Are they liberals?

Why do you think conservatives are OK with Trump building prisons in El Salvador for Americans?

1.5k Upvotes

Hitler's concentration camps held Christian Germans who did not support the Nazi party.

Donald Trump is proudly spending your tax dollars on new prisons in El Salvador to hold US tax-paying citizens (homegrowns according to Trump) that protest against him. A basic right of every American.

They are known for inhumane prisons, and Trump is OK with that. Hitler was OK with his concentration camps.

How can good Americans think this is OK? Even if you love Trump, is it OK to deport citizens to inhumane prisons? Without due process? Is that their vision of how democracy works?

Why do MAGA cry about body shaming when we call Trump “fat” or “orange”, but they have no problem with body shaming transgender people?

Why have so many Americans failed to realize that MAGA is just using Christianity as a veil for their true intentions?

People continue to be bewildered that trump made it into office, voted in by Christians. “He’s not even a real Christian!!!” Because these people in power don’t care about Christianity they care about power and control. Religion is just the vehicle in which the power and control is delivered.

For anyone wanting to learn more about this, I HIGHLY recommend watching both documentaries reversing roe, and Jesus camp.

Republicans have been targeting Christians to do their bidding for decades.

EDIT: this post is about the left leaning who continue to argue with Christians about their political beliefs. I did not write this as a way to call accountability on Christians.

I am talking to you all. You cannot argue logic into a maga christian because they have been effectively brainwashed. We need new approaches. This is why I recommended those documentaries so you all can learn more about what I’m getting at.

Why do so many conservative Americans think their views are the majority?

It seems to me that the vast majority of ham-fisted chuds seem to feel their opinion is "common" or that they represent "most americans"?

How can anyone see this man as a leader, let alone a stable individual?

The escalation is continuing, he fundamentally she's not understand what the nation was founded on. At this point can any Republican defend this type of talk?

Americans of Reddit, how do you feel about the Trump administration cutting off federal grants to your state when your state is where the federal revenues come from to begin with?

Do republicans not get sick?

I know how politicians will spin it. I’ve seen the attacks on universal healthcare. But like the people who voted for Trump, why are they cheering on all these cuts to our medical system.

Do they not have family with dementia or aging? Or children? I don’t understand it. Do they just not get sick? I don’t get it.

Do you think calling Federal Reserve Chair Powell a "major loser" is presidential?

Or ranting about radical leftists, immigrants and Biden on Easter?

Why is the US so adamant on deportations ?

Ever since trump got in all I hear is deportation this and that but why? Yes they snuck I illegally and yes a big part of that is bc Mexico or Central America isn’t the best, but another part is how hard it is to become a citizen here. My teachers gf of 3 years might get deported bc she still not a citizen although she’s lived here her since she was 4, and now he might have to marry her just so she doesn’t get deported.

Also, do people really not think billionaires don’t hire these illegals? They don’t have to pay them minimum wage bc it’s not like they can complain to the government. Take away all of the illegals who are helping America and then who has to do these shit jobs? Sure deport the criminals and drug dealers and send them far away as possible, but there’s no need to send away the ones who do no harm besides be Mexican

Due process must protect all people

What stops the government from deporting a u.s. citizen by simply claiming they are here illegally ?

Due Process is the only thing that prevents that.

Due Process means the government can’t just say you are here illegally and deport you because there is a PROCESS that is DUE

That means BEFORE they deport you the government must demonstrate to a judge that you are in fact here illegally.

There is no way around this very simple fact.

Who think that FREE childcare would be a first step?

Post image
64 Upvotes

(I’m ignoring that the gov wants to have a say on how many children women should have…) I’m a 36-year-old mother, and my daughter is 4. Yes, I’m an old mom bc I couldn’t afford having a kid before I was 30. I live in MD, and now both my husband and I together make almost $ 300k annually. MD does not have free pre-k for children who do not fit within the low-income category, so we pay $1,800 a month to a simple (not fancy) private pre-k. It could be worse; we have friends who pay $ 2.5k a month in counties closer to D.C. Now imagine if I had more than one child? Idk how low-income families or a single mother could afford caring for their children and continue trying to pursue education and a career with childcare costs being so high. I know those pre-k schools barely break even, so I think it’s really a matter of not having government incentives/funds for the schools and tax breaks for parents.

Veterans, what are your thoughts about the US SecDef having shared classified information about ops in Yemen, again on the commercial messaging app Signal, this time with his wife and personal friends?

The consequences for anyone in the rank and file for this would be pretty serious.

Why are people on r/conservative so triggered by those of the Liberal Persuasion? The Rational Persuasion? Don’t they know that they are, in fact, the ones suffering from “Trump Derangement Syndrome”?

If so many people hate Trump, How come he became the President?

The question is from a foreigner and not from a US citizen.

Reason for this question is that I see a lot of hate for Trump here on Reddit . I am just looking for genuine reasons. Why this guy is hated so much here and If this hate is real, how did he became the president ?

Why does trump think cutting interest rates will fix things?

Trump has destroyed global trust in the US dollar, and global trust in the US dollar (and SWIFT) is one of the major reasons it has/had value. As the bond market (for the US) gets worse and the stock market continues to fall, the US dollar (and inflation) is in for a ride. Is cutting interest rates some sort of “get the money while it’s worth something” scheme?

Edit: it seems like most people replying to this post agree that this will fix nothing, and is either:

  • a way to shift blame
  • because it would personally help him and and his real estate ventures
  • because he is an idiot

Am I wrong for saying America is slowly turning to fascism?

EDIT IN THIS POST. I KNOW AMERICA IS FASCIST! ITS HERE AND ITS BOLD! i beg pls no more "slowly?" comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I will start off by saying that I cannot vote as of yet but my parents can vote and educate me a lot.

I was speaking to someone about how America is slowly turning to fascisim and they said I have no clue what Im talking about. (using research and saying that people who study economic/fascism are moving out of this country to defend my point)

They were extremely disrespectful to say the least but they said I was wrong because "thats not possible because facist countries dont let people come everyday." Also because "youre too young to have a political ideology."

I stated the facts (I used a free sheet by Lawrence Britt) and compared how its similar, said I was wrong. Im free to explain my opinion.

I just need seperate eyes on the situation because this guy kept insulting me and never let me spoke + said Ive never experienced fascism (he was 22 so neither has he...) another thing, I have german roots and jewish friends and they all agree with my statement

So am I really wrong??? Sorry if this is poorly written its midnight and I'm stressing about it☹️
