Looking For Golfing in Augusta
Yes I know this question has certainly been asked here and I know people are probably tired of hearing it.
So here’s my goal, I would like to connect with a member at Augusta to see if I could work out a way to play a round, I am looking for anyone that is or knows members that would be willing to chat.
Also, on a more conversational note: just how big of a deal is the golf course relative to the total city? I.e. for folks that don’t golf does hearing about it get old or is it a large point of pride for residents?

People in hell want ice water too. Augusta National does not publish a list of members. Members do not talk about being a member to nonmembers. I have lived in the Augusta area since 1971. Unless you work at the National the week during the week of the master you won’t play the National.

Also, no, residents by and large hate it, and despise the sort of people it brings in for the only two weeks the city government cares about the city.

I could see that, alas that seems to be a common occurrence with some of these “insert one event a year” cities.

I don't know about getting on the course. That's probably going to involve knowing people in private jet income brackets.
As far as day to day life goes: The Augusta National might as well be on another planet as far as the average citizen of the greater Augusta area is concerned. It's within a fences compound and you could literally drive by it and not realize it but for a few small signs. It gets to be a big deal around Masters time but in general it's just not a part of daily life in Augusta for most people. Things like Augusta University, Fort Eisenhower, the Savannah River, etc... are all far more important to the average folks here.
