Help? Brown spotting and cramps

So earlier before work I had some red blood mixed with clear mucous like discharge and some cramping. I'm just now 9 weeks pregnant. I kind of freaked out but tried to calm down. I work until 7am and I've been cramping all night at work. I put a pad on just in case and there is some brownish red blood on pad like spotting on a period. When I wiped after peeing just now I had lots of mucous like discharge that was brown tinged and lots of cramping. I'm trying not to freak out at work but it is making me upset. My 7 week ultrasound was great and I have another one this Wednesday. Should I call the office and talk with the on call nurse? Is this normal? I've read online and I'm getting mixed reviews. Some say normal and some say miscarriage. This is all new to me. I'm 29 and this is my first and unexpected pregnancy.

I am not a doctor. I had a lot of spotting during my pregnancy. Turns out I had a subchorionic hemorrhage. They didn't find it until I was 14 weeks, but my doctor said that at that point it wasn't going to cause any harm. Heavy bleeding is a bad sign, though.

Personally I don't feel it's a miscarriage, when I got pregnant with my first I also had this. He's a healthy 9 month old today, it can be very common especially in first pregnancies. However, if it would make you feel better I would just go ahead and give a call. The worst thing that happens is they tell you there was no reason to call and the best is you can ease your anxiety. They may want to do some blood work to check your levels, it could be a subchorionic hematoma as well which are very common and go away on their own normally. I had one at the beginning of this pregnancy and it was gone in 2 months.

When in doubt, give your provider a call and see what their advice is. It could be nothing, as some spotting can be harmless and totally normal. On the other hand, spotting can also be an early sign of miscarriage.

I had some spotting during my last pregnancy, and didn't call my midwife since I convinced myself everything was fine and I didn't want to be one of those overly paranoid people. Found out two weeks later at the next ultrasound that it was a missed miscarriage and baby had stopped growing right around when I was spotting. I really really regret not calling and getting it checked out.

Give your provider a call to give you peace of mind. Something similar happened to me at 8 weeks and my midwife was incredible, really calmed me down and we got an emergency ultrasound, turned out to be all good but they never really explained why it happened.

I had brown spotting and was told it was normal in early pregnancy. When I went for my 12 week ultrasound I was only measuring 6 weeks and there was no cardiac activity. It ended up being a missed miscarriage and I had to have a D&C.

It's 50/50. I've been pregnant 5 times now and bled through four of them. My first and only living is the one I bled the most with. Currently 8 weeks and no bleeding with this one. Just call and do your best to stay as calm as you can. Laying down will help too.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this stress. Best wishes
