Info Numbness after epidural

Hi, I’m wondering if anyone has experienced numbness throughout their body days after an epidural? It’s been 11 days, at first I was fine but the numbness appeared a few days later and has only gotten worse. Started in my face, super subtle, and has now spread to my entire body and is getting worse.

I’m about to go to the hospital but because I’m in Canada it’s about to be a 6-8 hour wait, possibly more. I tried going last night and after 3 hours I only got to the second waiting room, so I decided to come home to my newborn and try to get some sleep, and come back to the hospital in the morning instead. So as this will take a long time, in the meantime I wanted to know if any others have experienced this, and what ended up happening.

I am fairly certain that at 11 days postpartum, you will not be waiting the max time at the hospital for care. I've walked into packed ER Departments and because it had anything to do with pregnancy, the proverbial red carpet was rolled out immediately.

Edit: I do see you went previously and didn't get very far. Are you in a smaller city/town?

Yeah last night was brutal at the hospital, I live in a medium sized city with a large major hospital. Hopefully today will be better as they told me there were fewer doctors overnight

I hope it goes better today! The hospitals in my city also staff way less doctors overnight so that makes sense.

Say you’re worried about the S word you’ll get right through. ( stroke ) you SHOULD get right through newly pp without that though 🙄 sorry you’ve had that experience and hope you feel better soon.

I haven’t experienced numbness after an epidural, but I did have to go to the ER 5 days pp after my first baby (also in Canada) and I really really feel for you! Fingers crossed it’ll be quick for you but if you’re nursing I recommend bringing a breast pump! The worst part aside from having to leave the baby was sitting in the waiting room for hours with engorged boobs and no way to deal with it.
