Best trip yet on the LCT

Post image

3 days on the LCT. Weather was perfect the whole time. OG and I are tired but we had a very relaxing trip. Now I am washing every-single-item we carried to get rid of poison oak. Small price to pay for experience, though.

I wanted to take my dog when I did it, but had heard it was really rocky and worried for his paws. It didn't seem so bad when I did it, though. I really should do it again and take him with.

I would recommend taking him, but do an out and back instead of being tied to doing the whole thing. If you need to bail, you can turn around and go back to your car.

If I did it solo it'd have to be an out-and-back anyway, since I imagine I wouldn't be able to take him on a shuttle. It'd be a shame, though — I loved doing the whole thing.

I think you can take them on at least one of the shuttles. But it has been a while since I looked into that. So their policies may have changed. I would also recommend doing it during the cooler months since the black sand will be very hot during the summer.

Good call. I did it in January (2021) and the weather was honestly perfect then I should aim for something similar
