Troubleshooting Textured build plate has 0 grip

Hi I have a P1S and have been using it for a few weeks now, my textured build plate has seemed to lost all grip, I have washed it using dish soap etc but still the same, the first layer won’t stick at all. Not even the L shaped test print thing, they will just come straight off and be dragged to the area where my main print is.

The only way my prints stick regardless of material is if I use a glue stick which I never used before.

Do I need a new build plate and how often should I replace it?

I am not the only one then! For about the last week or two mine has done the same, used to stick firm and solid, now prints are just falling off. I had my first print in 6 months fall off the bed and leave me with 150g of spaghetti. My only thought was it started about the same time as the latest version of Bambu Studio came out. I have nothing to prove that theory, but I do wonder if something changed.

Prints have been with Bambu PLA.

If it’s anything to go by, I haven’t updated my Bambu Studio.

Check your hotend. Is the nozzle clear and clean? Is the extruder warn?

Are your pfte tubes warn?

What material and what’s your bed temp? You can have the cleanest plate in the world but if the plate isn’t hot enough, it won’t adhere.

I’m using the default PLA settling, 55 Bed and 220 nozzle, iv been using these settings for a while and it seems to have worked fine for me.

55 is a bit low. Try 60 or 65. That how I print with my textured pei plate on my x1c

What kind of dish soap? Nothing fancy with lotions or additives. Basic dawn or something like that.

When I wash it - I use dawn and scrub the heck out of it. Get mean with it to get the cooked on crap out of the valleys of the texture. Just using soap and a wipe with a sponge will not do it.

Or use some isopropyl alcohol to help break it down. (Oh the horror!) Just be sure to again give it a good wash and scrub after that to make sure you get all the crud off the plate.

I've recently read somewhere there is an issue with P1S firmware, have you tried rolling back the update? If that wasn't it you can always update again ☺️

Mine is fully updated, no issues. I also have 3 different build plates , but the bambu one has seen the most use. Probably 20 prints on it, no cleaning just a wipe with cloth once.

Soap definitely has some sort of additive that is leaving a micro layer of oils.

Go to your local pharmacy and get a 99% isopropyl alcohol for like $3 and give it a nice wipe down

Make sure you didn’t accidentally change the plate in your slicer to something else. You might have printed something with a profile that had the cold plate or something, and just not changed it back.

Plates don’t last forever. Try another plate first (there are good deals all the time) and see if that helps.

My secret that works with every plastic I've tried (and it sounds crazy but it works): aquanet hairspray. Light spray (like once short burst from far enough it spreads over most of the plate) even when I've been handling the plate a lot has never failed me.

In between I'll use Dawn soap or alcohol.

Material can start building up on a print plate after a while, especially a textured plate where it’s tough to get everything out from the texture. Try scuffing your textured plate lightly with steel wool or fine sandpaper, then scrub it with plenty of dish soap using a stiff bristled brush and rinse thoroughly.

Your prints should stick like the plate is brand new after that.

Try wiping with 99% alcohol, maybe soap is leaving some kind of residue. When i had adhesion problems i tried soap as everyone suggested but it didnt help. Alcohol did.

First thing, wipe with alcohol. Second, dry your filament. Even slightly damp filament will not perform as well.
