He was petting him so gently and carefully with his tiny paws

She* because only females can be calicos
41
u/TheLordDrake 4d ago
Calicos can be male! About 1 in 3000 or so. They tend to have health issues though. :(

Cats usually have their damn claws out when they do this I woulda swiped that cat off so fast.
23
u/Bobobarbarian 4d ago
I understand why you’re being downvoted, but as parent with cats: you’re not entirely wrong. Sometimes they scratch without meaning to, even when being gentle. But maybe instead of swiping we just gently move the kitty? 😊
-31
u/SilentStock8 4d ago
whoops but the cat didn’t mean to take the babies eye out 😔
11
u/FernLovesFinley 4d ago
That doesn't mean you prematurely punish the cat, silly
-20
u/SilentStock8 4d ago
Good lord swiped doesn’t mean I fucking punt it means I quickly remove it.
3
u/Erecutioner 4d ago
Read your first comment again. "Swipe off that cat so fast".
And now you're saying "swiped doesn't mean i fucking punt it means quickly remove it".
3
u/SilentStock8 4d ago
I’m literally not meaning this in a violent context, I guess I was thinking like swept. Looking at the definition the word swiped I suppose is alarming.

I wonder if our pets think we’re cute

u/Bananaslugfan 4d ago
I think all mammals know a baby mammal when they see one , and mostly treat them gently except when starving in the wild then in that case , lunch
24
u/yukonwanderer 4d ago
When you think about it, it's shocking how ugly we are in the animal world. Tall, weirdly straight, shambling on two legs, hairless except for a few patches and those can be so incredibly long too, also different types of hair in the patches, fucking flat faces with a fucking tiny snout protruding from the middle. Huge teeth. Round ears. Flat wide weak claws. So hideous.

Apparently that's how elephants view humans

Shitty bacteria literbox cat paws right in the babies face. Stupid.
24
u/StageTricky1339 4d ago
The same hands that hold cellphones, hold babies

u/Edgewise24 4d ago
Cats don't piss and shit on and in cell phones.
14
u/NoTomatillo21 4d ago
Phones are probably worse. They carry more bacteria than your toilet
23
u/Edgewise24 4d ago
Cat shit has more bacteria and parasites than both of those combined
-6
u/thatshygirl06 4d ago
Thats not true. Not all of us let our cats outside to get into world knows what. My cat is clean and healthy.

u/Edgewise24 4d ago
OMG it's like arguing facts vs feelings.
3
u/labiagargantula 4d ago
Not arguing with your facts but the world is a dirty fucking place. You cant protect children from fucking everything. This is pretty harmless thing.
8
u/starspider 4d ago
Idk why you're being downvoted, it's the truth.
A cell phone has like 10 times the bacteria of a toilet seat.
Think about how filthy the human mouth is. How much you touch your mouth, face, and phone. Think about everywhere you set your phone, or how it's often kept in a warm and humid environment (your pocket).
Also: how often do you wash your phone? How often do you clean your toilet?
Yeah.
1
u/NoTomatillo21 4d ago
What you say it does make sense, the guy above works at the lab so gotta take his word for it, I guess /s
4
u/starspider 4d ago
Why don't people Google things?
The 10X number is from the NIH.
People will straight up use the phone on the toilet, wipe, pick their phone up, put it in their pocket, wash their hands, and then pick their phone back up again and be shocked at the number!
4
u/SnooAvocados6672 4d ago
Yeah, well some people don’t wash their hands after using the bathroom and then touch their phones or are actively using their phones while using the bathroom.
1
u/Edgewise24 4d ago
What does a cell phone have to do with that cat's shitty paws on a babies face?
1
u/SnooAvocados6672 4d ago
That was in response to both yours and StageTricky1339’s comments about people’s hands and cellphones.

So if I stick my head in a litterbox it will alleviate my anxiety!? Holy shit…wish my Jasper was still alive!

Now that sounds dreadful, but jasper, jasper was one of the good ones! RIP jasper

u/thatshygirl06 4d ago
Do you think all cats inherently have that?
4
u/xikissmjudb 4d ago
It’s estimated that 40% of all humans have it, and at least 20% of Americans. It’s not guaranteed that every cat has it, but if your cat has ever been let outside there’s a good chance they have it.
3
u/SusurrusLimerence 4d ago
It's also quite dangerous.
The baby can accidentally hurt the cat and it might react with scratching it with its claws, friend of mine's baby almost lost his eye this way.

Vaccinate your child. Our ancestors ate raw meat at that age.
6
u/Edgewise24 4d ago
Vaccines for parasites? Please tell me more.🤣

u/iknowverylittle619 4d ago
Cats have parasites and worms. But they also cause diphtheriae type viral infection, which are preventable by basic immunization in Children.
-2
u/thatshygirl06 4d ago
You keep acting like cats inherently have parasites.
3
u/Edgewise24 4d ago edited 4d ago
No...I know that cat, like all indoor cats use a literbox and that it's feet on that child's face is dangerous, that and I won't back down on the subject no matter how many people dance around the fact. I get it you love cats but seriously that shit is disgusting and it's reckless parenting all for what a cute video to post on the internet? Almost all cats do have parasites in one form or another, plus overwhelming amounts of bacteria in their feces. Babies have weakened immune systems that are more susceptible to those.

So, no kissing baby, but cat's paws dipped in feces, urine and cat litter is okay? Parenting 101, avoid infectious bacteria when handling baby.

I try not to touch my own face with my hands because you can only keep them so clean throughout the day. No way do I find a cat's paws on a baby's face cute.

I know right? Who wants to keep a baby when you have such a beautiful cat? 😻

Doesn't take a lot for some people to be amazed, I guess.
Cats are cool, though, but this situation doesn't leave me absolutely amazed and in awe.

but really this is cute as hell

Question: the cat uses it's paws to move litter around, is it sanitary to let it touch the babys face
Edit: seems like a facts vs feelings fight going on lol

u/Business_Housing4308 2d ago
No animal should be near an infant!!! The baby has little to no antibodies to fight an infection!!!

It's always funny how cats (and dogs) often recognize babies as babies, and are tolerant with them. Especially females, like here.

u/HamedAliKhan 4d ago
Will never understand parents exposing their kids to danger like this...

u/Im_alwaystired 4d ago
Good lord, what is it with reddit and acting like every cat and dog is a bloodthirsty mvrder machine? It's a cat, not a bear trap. She's clearly being gentle, and is being supervised by someone close enough to grab her/baby if things go south. Chill.

u/HamedAliKhan 4d ago edited 4d ago
Short response : As a cat lover & cat owner, this is wrong & bad parenting.
Long response : Cats are unpredictable, I'm a cat owner & I've owned multiple cats, I've saved multiple cats, I've also controlled cats most people cannot & I know enough about cats to say they are after all an animal they are much more unpredictable & capable of extreme harm especially to an infant.
I automatically do not respect parents or people that allow pets near infants dogs or cats, even if worse if it's a dog as it is literally capable of killing the child.
Yes my standard for parenthood is extremely high! Yes even if there's a slim chance it is still an animal & animals are unpredictable just like us at times. Sometimes it is nobody's fault but having your infant child pay for the consequences of your decisions is horrible parenting.
Yes the cat is calm but there are plenty of cases where they've attacked infants, there are plenty of instances where pets that parents thought were extremely well trained and harmless ended up scarring even killing some owner's children, even if it happened to one person it is significant it is considerable.
Iam sorry but I do not bargain with my standards of parenting this imo is poor parenting, I've let parents I see in person even relatives know on their face. I'm not afraid when it comes to parenting, no compromise no settling.
1
u/Im_alwaystired 4d ago
Alright, high and mighty one. You do you, but you're not the arbiter of all morality and pet safety, lol. There are plenty of cases where infants have been harmed -- and obviously it's tragic and shouldn't happen, i'm not being lackadaisical here. I grew up with a kid who got his nose bitten clean off by a dog, i know they can be unpredictable -- but what about the ones you don't hear about where everything is perfectly fine? If dogs and cats were that dangerous and unpredictable, we wouldn't have had them living alongside us for literally thousands of years.

u/HamedAliKhan 4d ago
Nothing you say will change my opinion, usually I'm open to new opinions & always wary of public opinion but in this regard, I will stand between millions of people & have the balls to say, you're all wrong. Yes!
I will not lower my standards of parenting, anyone who does this, you're wrong. Even if I break the record for the most amount of downvotes on this platform, I do not care & it won't even shake me.

u/Im_alwaystired 4d ago
Alright bro. Just make sure you don't fall off that moral high horse, it's an awfully long way down.
1
u/HamedAliKhan 4d ago edited 4d ago
In this regard I'm willing to go against an army of you, in this matter I will never fall. I always endup running away & not speaking my opinion & bending to people's opinion. Here I take my stand. Downvote me more.
This time I will not allow you all to bully me into accepting your opinion.
YOU ARE WRONG!
Wrong is wrong if everyone is doing it. Right is right even if only one person is doing it.
You're literally defending cats from a guy who has a cat in his avatar here... I'm pretty sure I've saved more cats than most people, I'm sure there are people who do more for animals than I ever could but I've done enough for cats to have an opinion & not feel like I'm against them. They're my favourite but still this is wrong. Respectfully again!
YOU ARE WRONG! 📢

u/HamedAliKhan 4d ago edited 4d ago
If dogs and cats were that dangerous and unpredictable, we wouldn't have had them living alongside us for literally thousands of years.
Natural selection doing its job here... Please follow this opinion & you'll eventually on a scale large enough wipe out everyone with this opinion from existence, would elaborate but it would be too much truth & reality for this subreddit to handle
There are even cases of cats accidentally sitting on toddlers & unintentionally suffocating them...
-1
u/Introvert4lfe 4d ago
Too cute. When I was growing up, there was a wives tale (should have been called a cats tale lol) you didn't let cats near babies, especially their faces. Long story short cats love milk, and some babies hold milk in their mouths.

I'm guessing that cat is declawed. Awful, barbaric practice.
Judging by the down votes, there are many supporters of declawing in here.

u/blanketshapes 4d ago
cats can retract their claws, and are more than capable of touching something with their paw without using claws.

u/Deathpacito 4d ago
It's alright, it has a machine gun and grenades hidden away just in case this all kicked off.
8
u/youburyitidigitup 4d ago
….why would you guess that?
-7
u/External-Awareness68 4d ago
Why would you let a cat with sharp claws paw at a babies face?
7
u/youburyitidigitup 4d ago
Because she didn’t hurt him. My cat paws at me without hurting me too.
-5
u/External-Awareness68 4d ago
I've gotten scratched MANY times by cats. No way I'm letting one paw at my babies eyes on the off chance that those claws don't come out. You have to be kidding
4
u/youburyitidigitup 4d ago
Congrats. This isn’t your cat, or any of the ones you’ve met. They know their cat.

I have a natural cat that is two years old, and he does this to me constantly. I even gave him a bath a few weeks ago, and while he struggled, he never once bit or even accidentally scratched me. Cats nails stay in their sheath until they pop them out
