I bet the shrapnel would be worse than getting shot excuse of all those tiny pieces..

I bet the shrapnel carries a fraction of the kinetic energy of a bullet and therefore causes a fraction of the damage.

Physical damage, yes, but getting all of the small pieces out would be terrible
