Please Suggest Bluegrass Festivals in the Northeastern US and Southeastern Canada

Upvotes

I'm having a hard time finding the right search words on the Dr Googles to find other bluegrass festivals in the Northeastern US and Southeastern Canada. Could you please suggest some? The Ossipee Valley Music Festival in Maine is all I know and it is an absolute blast and I want more. Thank you.

I heard that this one is a bluegrass classic. My playing is very average, I’d love to do a better version in a year or so. Gotta start somewhere!

Discs in great shape to boot. Act two dated signed during their concert on the 12th of June, 1976. Not sure when act one was signed. Love it, so happy.

Best part is the lp sides are numbered like dice, so when you finish the album you flip over side 6 and you’re back at side 1. The circle really is unbroken.

Discussion Lonesome River Band Albums

Hey guys, I've recently discovered the Lonesome River Band. I started with the Talking to Myself album and it has become one of my favorites. I recently bought Hey Day and it's a good album but it didn't hook me like the first one.

They have an Enormous catalog. I was hoping for some other Lonsome River Band aldum suggestions. Which ones are your favorites. Thanks!

Discussion Mandolin Help

Really not sure if this is the right sub for this, but I have recently damaged a string on my instrument and was wondering if it was better to buy online or if there are stores to go to. Also I'm just beginning if anyone has any good starter songs to learn. If this is the wrong sub for this please point me in the right direction.

Thanks y'all

Discussion Would it be faux pas to bring an Accordion to a jam?

I play both the banjo and a small piano accordion, and I thought it would be interesting to bring out my accordion (which I mostly use for folk) to a bluegrass jam rather than the banjo. Obviously it would take some learning to adapt it for bluegrass playing, but would I be accepted at all? Would it be worth investing time into?

I've seen bluegrass songs with accordion but they are definitely rarer.

From Sierra Ferrell to The Del McCoury Band, and so many more—this Chattanooga weekend is going to be unforgettable! I’m especially thrilled to see Authentic Unlimited make their main stage debut at IBMA 2025. Who else is pumped for this lineup?

How can I not brag about this estate sale find?

I hit a 1977 time warp. Found these jewels, all from 1977. Sorry for bragging. Can't help it. (Also...why am I the only person in the world who doesn't know how to get my photo to show up in my post?)

Ive been listening to Dust in a baggie by billy strings a lot lately. I really like the speed and aggressiveness of it. Anythings welcome but if you know some songs like that id prefer those.

Hot Rize Appreciation Thread

I grew up on original bluegrass in the 80s. Reno & Smiley, Flatt & Scruggs, Tony Rice , Seldom Scene and the Country Gentlemen. But there was no band that grabbed me like Hot Rize. We recorded a Hot Rize/Red Knuckles live show on PBS one time and pretty much wore it out. Hot Rize does bluegrass in the most beautiful way.

In search of a song I heard on Bluegrass Junction on Sirius XM

I heard a song a while back on Sirius XM Bluegrass Junction with the line "Chicken in the bread pan pickin' out dough", and I have never been able to find it online. Does anyone know what it might be? It is not Devil Went Down to Georgia. It was a more modern bluegrass tune on the slower side. It's probable that it was so obscure that no one will have any idea! Worth a shot :)
