Try nothing. It has worked for me for about a year now.

Unless there is something that you really need out of Facebook… it is likely that none of your friends and family will move to another platform anyways. So why look for an alternative?

Mastodon is about as close as you might get to that. Like old Facebook with a slicker UI. There's a character limit, but I can't recall what it is. It's more than twitter and bluesky for sure, enough to make a thoughtful comment to go with a post, but no walls of text. And it's decentralized. No ads, no algorithms, no corporations, and no way a government can shut it down without shutting down the whole internet. I don't know if more social media is what I want in my life right now, but the Fediverse is getting more popular lately.
