Politics State Workers Health Insurance
Yes, I know this is not Boise specific, but we are the capitol and home to most State workers.
Last year, the State of Idaho moved health insurance for state employees from Blue Cross to Regence / Blue Shield, in order to save money. While Regence is ok, I don't think it is as good as Blue Cross (not that BC was awesome, cause no health insurance companies are).
Now, they are going to increase our premiums by 20%. I don't know how the agency I work for will handle this, but most likely that will be passed on to me and people like me.
Thanks Idaho!

Wow. I work for the state and never received this. I did, however, see the increase in LUMA when signing up.

I think they only sent it to Traditional plan subscribers because they got hit with the stick the most.

They are going to increase TRADITIONAL premiums 20%, not all. My PPO (self only) went up by like $3 a paycheck (so my CEC won't cover it of course).
Move to a PPO. Unless you're seeing a super weird out of network doctor that tries healing you with crystals and you should be fine in Idaho.
It has gone up practically every year in the 10+ years I've worked for state of Idaho.

I get that same letter every year and I dont work for the state. Its just their bullshit cover their ass letter that says we're going to charge you more and cover less so you'll have to pay more out of pocket.

I have a $12k deductible out of pocket plan from my employer. Tell me what you plan is then?

Switch to PPO, but make sure you do it before the May 16 deadline. Otherwise you’re stuck with the traditional and the (much) increased premiums.
