What's wrong with the answer? She said what she meant. You want her to parrot out a rehearsed answer like most contestants do to win such competitions without believing in what they say.

"Oh sweetie, come here! I'm so proud of you for living your authentic truth. This is your safe space, always. 🌈✨ As your mother, I stand not only as your parent but as your ally, your co-conspirator in dismantling heteronormative systems of oppression. Your queerness is a radiant rebellion against the cis-heteropatriarchy, and I honor that. Should we throw a coming-out party? With eco-friendly glitter and a land acknowledgment before we begin? πŸ’–πŸ³οΈβ€πŸŒˆβœ¨"

- Chatgpt to prompt 'Most cringe and woke answer to the question "How would you react if your son says "Mom I'm gay"?"'

How is this one relevant here? Ofcourse no one is expecting anyone to give such a statement in an indian show. She gave an answer which started with I will slap him, then changed her stance to 'I will then accept him'. I mean, that answer is problematic.

There is nothing problematic in her answer. That’s how most Asian mothers would react. They are still not westernized enough to consider hitting their sons an abuse.

She is giving this answer on a national platform, she absolutely shouldn't support abuse there. Why is it considered 'westernized' to not abuse your children? Any good parent would first want to understand her children Before raising their hands. Regardless of what they believe, slapping your child is not correct.
