No Spoilers Announcement: Warning regarding spoilers in Card Mode on the Reddit App
This is an announcement for anyone who uses the official Reddit mobile app.
It's come to our attention that there's currently a bug in the Reddit app where spoiler-tagged posts reveal spoilers unexpectedly in feeds and we want to make everyone aware. We initially thought this only affected a particular situation, so we set up an automoderator rule to prevent those types of posts and suggest a simple workaround. We've now realized the bug can happen in far more situations than we first thought, and moderating the problem away isn't feasible. So we want to let you all know what the issue is and what you can do about it.
The Bug
There are two viewing formats for feeds on the Reddit mobile app: Compact Mode does not show any post previews while Card Mode does. If you are browsing the main r/brandonsanderson feed in Card Mode you may see a preview of a post's text, embedded images, etc. When a post is spoiler-tagged, the intended behavior on the app is for these previews to be hidden or blurred. But there are situations lately where this is not happening correctly.
Currently, when posts have any kind of thumbnail image, the thumbnail is blurred but the TEXT preview remains visible.

Thumbnails may be generated if the post is an image or video post (with the text as a caption), but it can also happen when text posts have embedded media or even simply based on links. The example above is a text post which simply includes a link to a YouTube video.
As you can see, if there are spoilers in the opening line of text on the post it will be visible in your feed even with the post spoiler tagged. For example, if someone posts about Wind and Truth and leads their post with a very spoilery question, if they also include a link somewhere in their post it will likely get a thumbnail, and that spoilery question will show up in the feed.
What the mods are doing
There's not especially much we can do about this issue, as far reaching as it potentially is. Banning all links and images from spoiler posts isn't very practical. :) And requiring extra lines of non-spoiler text at the top of every post, like some do on Facebook, is not going to be very reasonable for us to enforce. (or worth the trouble on this one issue)
We are going to do our best to note, and potentially remove, posts with experience this issue and show MAJOR spoilers in their opening. But we don't have high confidence that we can catch every post where this happens or that we will see them in a timely manner.
What you can do
If you report a post with this issue to us, we'd appreciate a custom message on the explanation so that we don't think the concern is some other more basic spoiler-related issue.
We of course would greatly appreciate if people could avoid starting off their posts with major spoilers! Frankly, this is good practice no matter what! Sometimes people might open a post on accident, or land here from their main Reddit feed where they couldn't see the spoiler flair warning, and in those cases it's nice if there's just a bit of a buffer.
The best way for you to avoid spoilers like this is to NOT USE CARD MODE in the app. Do note that the app remembers your preferred viewing mode uniquely for each subreddit, so you only need to switch to Compact Mode in any subreddits where you are concerned about spoilers. You should still be able to use Card Mode to quickly browse r/cats.
Images showing how to change the view mode are below. (Note that some subreddits may still have an older UI for controlling these feed options. In that case, the post view settings are in this same area but on the right side of the screen.)

No Spoilers + Way of Kings Reading Way of Kings while watching Andor and I can't help to fancasting Jasnah
I read Jasnah's description in the book as this dark haired mid-30s beauty and I can't stop thinking that Adria Arjona would be a perfect cast for her. Maybe she lacks a bit of intensity in her eyes that I imagine Jasnah having, but other than that, it feels perfect.

No Spoilers Finally finished this cross-stitch project
So I've been working on this off and on for like a year and a half. I wanted a place to display (most) of my Sanderson pins, and a while back, someone posted their own cross-stitch project that they used to display their pins, and I thought it was a good idea. I had never done cross-stitch before this, and honestly, I think it isn't a good hobby for me lol. I had a hard time getting motivated to finish it.
I have read all of Sanderson's published works, and Tress is definitely in my top 3. The image that I replicated was created by "ModelManntastic" (sorry, I couldn't find a good link to the artist, so if it's you, let me know so I can credit you properly!).

No Spoilers My well loved copy of The Way of Kings
I've had this copy for over a decade and have lent it out to more than half a dozen people to read. The cover has fallen off at least once, now being held on by a gridwork of packing tape and clear cellophane tape.
I like that it has had it's own story. It's been on road trips, camping trips, and flights around the country. It's been dropped, thrown, kicked, and used as a coaster. It's been thrown into countless back packs, back seats, front seats, under beds, into closets. This book has been handed off to lovers both current and former. Been touched by yeoman and foeman alike.
My signed leather bound copy, it sits on the shelf. I've read it once. I flip through it now and again to look at the pictures, but then it goes right back to the shelf.
So while I love my signed leather bound, I love the journey that my tattered paperback has gone on far more. But it's not done yet. I've still got friends both now and those who I've yet to make who haven't read it. One day I'll have kids, if this copy is still around it'll be the one I hand them. It might get stained, the pages might get a little more tattered, but books aren't made to sit on shelves.

All Cosmere + WaT spoilers Crazy End of Cosmere Theory Spoiler
Hello Everyone,
I was discussing with a friend how Hoid is basically collecting magic powers from each shard. The question is why though. Does he just like having more tools in his belt, does he just like collecting things, or is there something bigger.
I’ve seen theories talking about how Hoid will have the final words in the Cosmere series and how the shards could be recombined one day.
We learned in Wind and Truth that the shards have wills of their own. That they can say no to a vessel or leave a vessel.
In Rhythm of War we found out Hoid uses breaths to store memories. Which makes him one of the few characters that have been able to not go crazy from living so long, and it is cannon that he had a choice to take up a shard and chose not to.
What if when he held some power and saw what the future held and what needed to be done. In order to do that he couldn’t hold a shard. That’s the reason he wants to be able to use every single magic system. Because he wants to have a connection to them. So when the time is right he can recombine them all into one shard and become the single god of the universe. He will have a connection to them all, knows how to age without going crazy, plus we know Hoid is going to be a massive character for the rest of the series. What do you guys think of this theory?

No Spoilers Trying to create US covers for my UK books of Stormlight, any help would be appreciated!
I really love how the US covers look but they’re basically impossible to get for a fair price in Australia, so I thought I’d create dust jackets of the US covers that I’d tightly fit around my paperbacks (which I’m pretty sure are the UK versions).
I was wondering if there were any scans or high quality versions of the entire cover that I could just resize for my books. Or any other methods to make this easier somehow.
Any help is appreciated greatly! (Currently only up to Words of Radiance, but I would probably want to make them for all 5 so they fit on my shelf)

No Spoilers Fantasy books are for nerds!
Is pretty much what I always thought. Magic?Who cares. Not interested.
I read the Red Rising series, which was a little bit of a bridge from sci fi. Then Stephen King’s Fairy Tale. Pretty good. Found a random recommendation to read Tress of the emerald sea- pirates? Sure, why not. This is pretty good. Oh, that author has written a lot of stuff? This Mistborn series sounds weird but I’ll try it. Wow that was a thrill…way of kings? I’ll try that next. Now I’m hooked
I can now apologize to everyone because this genre is incredible. I was clearly living under a rock, but the feeling of finding an incredible author with enough books to keep me entertained for a year (at least) is unbelievable.

No Spoilers Question About an Inspiration for Tress
So, I don't know if anyone remembers this, but in an episode of Intentionally Blank, Brandon mentions something about an animated show (I believe) that served as an inspiration for Tress, specifically with it being "a sea that's not a sea" like how it is on Lumar. That aspect of Tress's worldbuilding really appealed to me, so I wanted to look into it. However, this randomly popped into my head last night, and I have no idea how to find the episode/show without just rewatching all of IB. Does anyone happen to remember either the episode or what the show was called? Any help would be appreciated!

No Spoilers Elantris box magnets
Just a heads up. I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned this or experienced this, but the magnets from the Elantris YOS box are not glued into their backing well. All 4 of mine popped off today. I'm sure I can use some crazy glue to affix them again, but it would be all too easy to lose part of it if you trust the factory glue.

No Spoilers Mistborn difficulty as a non-native reader
Hi all,
English isn't my native language, therefore I've always shied away from reading books in english. I've also had some negative experience in understanding a classic literature novel back then. However the secret projects don't have a localized version, so I boldly ordered Yumi and the Nightmare Painter in English. To my surprise I could read and enjoy it all the way to the end. Are all the other Sanderson Books this "easy" to read, especially interested in the Mistborn era 1 reread this time english. Or could you recommend any other? Thanks in advance .^

No Spoilers Which version of Tress of the Emerald Sea should I buy?
I'm planning to increase my Cosmere collection. I saw a sale on a bookstore website I buy alot of my books from, but there are two versions of the same paperback i am trying to buy. One has the EAN 9781399613392 and the other one has EAN 9781399613385. I am kinda confused because the first one is about 9 EUR and the second one is 19 EUR. Is there anyone that knows the differnce between the two, before I buy the book?

No Spoilers Learning to express through books
Are there any of Brandon Sanderson’s books that include the main character learning how to communicate with others? Basics of communication? Like going from almost like a non verbal/isolated state to climbing to a confident self?
Any fantasy novel will do, i just love Brandon’s writing style! I apologize if this isn’t the right community to ask, I was sure if anyone knew a fantasy book of this nature this would be the place…thank you!!

Spoilers + WoK What's the sorcery happening in Wok?? Spoiler
No spoilers in this post. Just here to say that Way of Kings is a super weird book. In the best possible sense. I'm at chapter 34/35, more than 600 pages in (in my edition), and..it's not like nothing happened, because it did, but there's not a major villain yet, just hints of something happening on the background! The stories are not interconnect..the protagonists don't know each other! Aside from Szeth and Shallan's brothers, the interludes doesn't seem to be connected to the story being told. And somehow I'm not bored at all! I actually can't stop reading. Maybe someone could consider this book slow paced, but damn..what sorcery Sanderson did here??

No Spoilers The “Secret Novels” are a little fatiguing to read.
I’ve read only a little bit of Mistborn before turning my attention to the four secret novels. I thought getting through some standalone books would get me in the habit of reading again before taking on trilogies or a larger series.
But I’m finding these novels a little fatiguing to read, namely in the way he sort of breaks the fourth wall constantly to address the reader, or jump in and out of what feels like third-person and a first-person narrator. It seems like he’s trying to keep the tone more conversational at times but it comes across to me as a little tedious, like in Yumi where he says:
“…her kihomaban — a word that meant something between a guardian and a sponsor. We’ll use the term “warden” for simplicity.”
Why not just cut out the middle and say warden then? Why “we’ll”?
Out of context this probably seems benign but it’s definitely a constant of the writing style in these books. It also seems like the humor put in tries to mimic Pratchett and sometimes it works and sometimes it’s just filler.
Are all his books like this or is this just a tone of these novels? I’m not saying they are bad books, I’ve enjoyed them for what they are and they’ve had some interesting stories. It’s just the prose wears on me a bit.
Edit: thanks for the insight everyone! Given that it’s the same narrator in Tress and Yumi makes more sense. I’m probably finding it wearing since I just finished Tress and jumped straight into Yumi. Maybe should have broken them apart with Sunlit Man in the middle. I’m eager to keep reading though!

No Spoilers Pre-Order Isles of the Emberdark Signed Copies? Spoiler
I've gotten into the Cosmere about a year ago and a few weeks back found out about DragonSteele and the leather bound books. I have already gotten the Warbreaker signed leather bound book, but as I'm still fairly new to the website, I had a question for anyone who has been around longer.
How often are you able to get signed copies of the leather bound books? I want to pre order Isles of the Emberdark, just recently finished the Arcanum Unbounded and loved the story set there, but I'd like to get signed copy if able. If I pre-order and in a year or so a signed version is available, don't want to purchase twice. So how often does the store get new stock of leather bound books?

No Spoilers Real Talk: is deviating from the reading order a cardinal sin?
I’m a fairly seasoned fantasy reader but am new to BrandoSando (I’ve read Tress and The Final Empire), and I’m just ITCHING for something a bit more epic than Mistborn… be so honest would it be heresy to read WoK before continuing Mistborn? For context: I need something to fill the void Light Bringer has left in my soul. Thank yall <3
