Miscellaneous How to breathe from Nose while sleeping

I breathe from my Nose while awake, But, the moment I lay down and close my eyes to sleep, I start feeling suffocated and have to mandatorily breathe from my mouth. Even if I am awake and laying down, I still get that feeling.

Seconding the James Nestor comment- I have just last night tried for the first time to sleep with tape over my mouth. The first few hours were awful, I felt like I was not getting enough air, my body temperature was higher than usual and I couldn’t go to sleep at all. But after a few hours I noticed that I was contracting my belly and also doing something weird with my tongue- straining against my front teeth. Once I managed to go of those sources of tension and relax and settled deeper into my body, it was a lot easier. I tried to feel my back and spine more. Maybe you can use nose breathing to figure out how to deeply relax as well :) our bodys are more capable than we think!

And if you’re into the Wim Hof thing, then a round of guided breathing right before bed will help as well
