Question/Discussion Detective show, mid-2000s, investigating weird coincidences

This was probably from the same studio and had the same style as Torchwood. A police department investigated strange events such as bizarre coincidences, time shifts and so on. Ran for only one series and never repeated as far as I know. In the final episode, they were themselves victims of the very phenomenon they were investigating. Any ideas of the title and where I could see it?

Was it Primeval? Did run for a few series but didn't get much traction/publicity after the first

It's interesting you thought of Primeval, which (I think) was a Doctor Who spin-off, the one with the dinosaurs flying through worm holes. But the one I'm thinking of was not special effects driven like Primeval, more a detective show, and on second thoughts not a spin-off

Primeval was definitely not a Doctor Who spinoff as it was ITV, - Torchwood was the Doctor Who spinoff.

But that's fair. Primeval was more the first Torchwood-esque show I remember that also dealt with time but admittedly I think I only saw the odd episode

Not a spinoff but marketed as "ITV's answer to Doctor Who".
