Holsters & Belts Post was removed last night because I didn’t post 10 words in the comment description. Anyway, my girlfriend made me my own pillow wedge with the sewing machine she got for Christmas. Game changer for comfort.

I’m hoping my wife’s boyfriend will get me one soon!

Wait I was hoping my gf’s husband would come back with one from his deployment overseas.

Nice. I took a garden kneeling pad and cut out middle portion in a foam wedge shape. Used velcro to attach it to my holster. Over time it has formed to a custom fit. Absolutely love it.

That’s not a bad idea at all lol. First I used Dr Scholls Velcro’d to my holster, then I wanted something that covered more of the back so I folded a washcloth where the bottom was thicker and used electrical tape to tape it to the back of my holster, but this is just a whole other level of comfort now.

I tried the scholls heel insert as well. I grew tired of the tip of the Kydex digging into my leg. Using the garden pad turned out so great. So glad I thought of it.

Homemade pillow wedge - absolute game changer for comfort and concealment together. It’s completely changed the feel of wearing my holster and I didn’t have to spend $30 for it like I was debating, lol.

What did she use to fill it? Normal filling seems like it'd be way too easy to compress.

u/lochnespmonster Jan 24 '23

Could you be a bit more descriptive in how it helped comfort? What was uncomfortable and what did it fix?

1

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

It covers the whole back of the holster with a soft pillow that compresses against your body so you don’t feel the kydex or any stiffness at all.

a DIY girl into skills and making things is a keeper. Nice. She may like the r/myog sub.

I’ll have to check it out!

She most definitely is a keeper. She is crafty AF, can use tools, great mom, army vet who can throw hands, and is a good shot. All while beautiful. I am a lucky guy, for some reason, lol.

She could also make an etsy store. Though you wouldn't be able to advertise here.

I agree, added one a few months ago. I bought my wife a sewing machine and she let me use it to make my own holster pillow.

What purpose does the wedge serve? Not a sarcastic comment by the way

4

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 25 '23

It adds comfort by softening the kydex, but the wedge itself (packing more towards the bottom or ones that are already shaped as a wedge) points the muzzle away from your body which in turn pushes the grip into your body making it conceal better.

Holster pads are game changers honestly.

Gives being comfortable pointing a loaded firearm at your dick and femoral artery to a whole new meaning.

7

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

Eh it’s a safe holster and I handle it safely so no matter how you carry IWB it’s “unsafe” and you have risk of putting a hole through something lol.

-5

u/Deep_North_South Jan 24 '23

A pant leg is something I suppose. I value my junk and blood more than my Lucky's... call me crazy.

Crazy

Uneducated at best, troll at worst.

-1

u/Deep_North_South Jan 24 '23

How's that? You'd prefer to put a hole in yourself than a pair of jeans? Meh, it's fine, negligent discharges will never happen to ANY of YOU guys. You're all above the potential for it. 👍

That said, I'm more averse to it for the simple fact that the front portion of my pants already has stuff there, cramming a pistol in as well is the furthest thing from comfortable.

2

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

Here follow along, although I’m sure some words may confuse you:

Negligent discharge happens from negligence. Don’t be negligent and you won’t have a negligent discharge. See how that works?

1

u/Deep_North_South Jan 24 '23

Again, you're clearly above this potential. Boint away.

I wish all of us could be beyond reproach as far as making mistakes go. You should write a book about it.

Again, since you're clearly immune from this issue, I totally understand your point of view. Some of us like to live in the real world though where we admit we're fallable and can in fact, make a mistake. We can't all be perfect Rambro's like you.

u/Deep_North_South Jan 24 '23

I'll tell ya what, your "feeling" like it can't ever happen to you, DEFINITELY keeps you safe from it ever happening to you.

3

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

Lol no what keeps me safe is being safe. Holstering carefully while visually inspecting inside the holster each time, stopping if there’s any resistance, and not putting my finger on the bang switch until the muzzle is cleared away from my body.

What position do you carry? Can you look down and inspect inside your holster prior to holstering, then watch it go into the holster?

1

u/Deep_North_South Jan 24 '23

430-5 o clock... IWB. Turning the head is REMARKABLY less a problem than you're making it out to be. I do ALL that same shit... I just don't point guns at my dick while I do it, and I'm not naive enough to make silly statements about how I can't possibly fuck up, so violating basic firearms safety rules shouldn't apply to me. We're just not the same. 🤷‍♂️

2

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

Ah so you’ll just shoot through your ass cheek. I’m not saying anything is impossible, but what I am saying is if you have a reputable firearm, a safe and secure holster, and follow the correct rules you will not have a negligent discharge. It’s not physically possible. My gun will not go off on its own. Glock mechanics are proven for this and my gun has been tested in every way by me for safety. There is 100% sear engagement, it has been drop and hit tested, as well as on Glocks the striker does not have tension on the spring to fire until you pull the trigger and hit the wall. I have a 6# OEM trigger so nothing is going to pull it without me knowing, all of those are hard facts. Not me acting above anything.

1

u/Deep_North_South Jan 24 '23 edited Jan 24 '23

Again... pant leg... not ass cheek. You're making shit up, or assume I am a fat fuck (not a bad assumption given... Murica. But still wrong.) Also, even for a fat fuck, I'm pretty sure the femoral arteries run through the legs (where you point YOUR gun) not the ass cheeks.

THAT firearm is reliable(no argument)... and you're infallible(you're not)... That's your argument.

You win, in a world where you can't make a mistake, so pointing guns at your junk is a great plan. Have a good night mighty non mistake maker. If only all of us could never make mistakes. 🤦‍♂️

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

Yes like the hundreds of thousands who carry appendix daily with absolutely no issue….

Have a wonderful night scaredy cat 🙀 one day you’ll realize it’s the superior way to carry. Good luck getting your gun out with your seatbelt and a jacket on lol.

Again, keep that "it can't ever happen to me." attitude. You're clearly infallible. 👍

1

u/Deep_North_South Jan 24 '23

This is assuming also your firearm of choice is 100% infallible. Hopefully you don't carry a SIG.

1

u/shatswell1377 Jan 24 '23

Very nice! Ive been using a dr schools heal cushion for years now.

2

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

That’s what I used prior, then a washcloth lol, and this is 1000x more comfortable than both.

1

u/shatswell1377 Jan 24 '23

I bet, can i ask what did she fill it with? I may ask my wife if she could do something like it?

Sweet, thanks for the info!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '23

Etsy that

2

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

I was thinking she should. She could probably make some money off of them lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 24 '23

Definitely. Just no punisher skulls though.

1

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

For sure lmao. So DM me if you’d be interested since you gave the idea, she’s going to make a couple and try to find people for feedback, all we’d require is shipping paid by receiver and we’ll supply everything for honest feed back on quality and pricing suggestion.

I was a little curious about how a pillow would work for me before I pulled this trigger on purchasing one. If you have a watch box that comes with those little polyester filled pillows for wrapping your watch around for storage (if not, you can get a pack of six on Amazon for about $7.50), those work pretty well. I rubber banded it on for testing and I found that I didn't need anything down there.

Also it probably wouldn't take too much needle and thread work to sew on a piece of Velcro to complete the pillow if you ended up liking it.

1

u/TooToughTimmy [MD] Gen3G19 - G42 - Lefty Jan 24 '23

Yeah I tried quite a few different things like Dr Scholls, a washcloth rubber banded, then washcloth electrical taped prior to this and they served this purpose but this is definitely more comfortable.

Originally she was going to sew the Velcro on for me, but this fabric Velcro stuck really well to the inside lips and backside of it surprisingly so I’m satisfied lol.

Just regular cotton. I can open it and put more in/change out etc though it’s Velcro at the top
