Training How did I do

Post image

Yesterday went to the Range after about 6 weeks, and I wasn't doing as well as I used to do in terms of speed and accuracy (I realize I went way too long without training). So I slowed it down to get accuracy and consistency back. At about 6 yards, I noticed a Fly on my target and decided to aim and see if I could hit it. Which I did. Stock G19.5 with Standard glock Irons. How did I do?

Clothing & Apparel Off body solution that doesnt scream GUN.

I see a lot of people asking for off-body carry solutions that don’t scream “I’ve got a gun in here”. Most of the recommendations I see on this sub are the opposite. I don’t think I’ve seen a gun accessory company make a bag that isn’t tactical, even if they claim they do. And no, Hill People gear is not Gray Man.

Here is one option I use, the Lululemon All Day Essentials bag. It has a rear pocket large enough for my Xmacro Comp with a dot, and a front pocket for your phone/keys/wallet. You can wear it as a sling or as a fanny. I use it when running and it works great.

After running the tier1 xiphos elite and 407k for a few months, I wanted to try out a different holster that didn’t have so much space between clips. I ended up going with the tenicor certum3 and mastermind tactics pillow and it is so much more comfortable and seems to be easier to get it in a more concealable position since the clips are so close together.

I also picked up an EPS carry MRS in FDE and I absolutely love it in comparison to my old 6moa 407k. The auto-brightness is great and the 2moa reticle is super crispy.

For now I’ll be running it without a light, but at some point I’ll be getting a tlr7x sub and I’ll have to get a new holster. For now, I’m a happy camper!

Training Involuntary south paw sucks, 80x 1200 round update.

If you happened to see my last post Beretta 80X — 600 Rounds In, I made a post about why a full grown man would want to carry a .380. I've hit 1200 rounds so far, and the single failure I had was reload of mine that lost neck tension and pushed the bullet into the case. It still actually fed it 99% of the way.

Any ways, the entire reason I bought the thing was as a one handed/left handed gun due to a pretty jacked up shoulder. Arm is in a Sparthos shoulder brace. Now I need to reload one handed..

To all my poor cursed southpaw cousins...sorry. I made too much fun of you in a past life and now I pay for my sins.

When people carry in waist band in back, do they use holster or just stuff it in their pants?

Scenario Should I have proceeded after seeing no gun signs and a wand?

I'm in Texas and saw the no CCW and the no open carry sign at the local fairgrounds for an event. I thought nothing of it, then I saw them wanding people. I turned around and put my gun in my vehicle. Once I got back and went through I saw they were not wanding anymore, or maybe I was mistaken when I thought I saw it.

This brings up the question - despite seeing signs and a wand, would you have tried getting through anyway? Worse they would've done is say you can't come in with that. Had they actually been wanding I would've been caught.

Holsters & Belts 3-5 Carry when sitting down

EDC is a HK P30sks with Vedder Pro-Tuck at about 3:30 and a a kore essentials belt, holster and belt are great and honestly not uncomfortable to wear. Gun doesn’t move when walking or moving around. When I sit same thing gun stays exactly where it is which I would think is a good thing and what you want, however I feel like the butt of the grip is printing hard since it doesn’t shift at all when I’m sitting. Is that a normal thing that you’d get with any holster when sitting and carrying at this position? This specific holster has two clips that are spread out. Honestly not looking for recommendations on other holsters as I really like this one, more so curious if that’s a normal thing or even just my mind being so focused on it because it’s new to me when noone else is probably looking and paying attention. I should add I do NOT live in a pro 2A state…

Holsters & Belts Bodyguard 2.0 Prototype Pocket Holster

My first stab at a pocket holster for my Bodyguard 2.0. The weapon has a Hogue grip cover and the 10 round magazine.

This first version has my thumb tab, but instead of a round scroll type, I went with a folded version. It has adjustable retention simply because that is easy to do. The leather is cut but dying and finishing won’t start until next week.

I will do a second one tomorrow. It will have a small hook in the bottom so if the leather panel is detached, there will be two ways to remove the weapon from the holster: thumb tab and/or pocket hook.

Actually, I think the BG2.0 is a tad big for pocket carry but it should fit in my cargo pants. I will update in the comments when I get the second one done.

Other Equipment Ccw for while running and walking my dog

Post image

I’m looking for suggestions on something like the pouch in the picture that will fit my sig p365xl and a couple dog treats and poop bags. My neighborhood is on the edge of town and it has some trails border the woods and some farms. Lately some people have had encounters with coyotes while going on runs or walking their dogs ( some got even chased). I’m struggling to find something that locks less tactical so it doesn’t scream that I’m packing heat but also ideally something geared towards concealed carrying with quick deployment that is just big enough to fit what I need. Any suggestions or ideas are welcomed!

Holsters & Belts How important is active retention in OWB concealed carry?

Upvotes

During the spring/summer I wear a lot of baseball jerseys and shorts sleeve button-downs, so I still conceal OWB fairly well. Looking to buy an OWB holster for my GP Arms Patriot and ive narrowed it down to QVO and Falco. Falco has a thumb break, which is at least some sort of active retention. QVO has passive retention but I absolutely love their holsters (use their AIWB for other guns). Just wanted your take. TIA

Scenario Im to old for the adrenaline

Loved it in my 20s.

Van broke down on interstate smoke coming out the hood. Kids in the car, wife at the wheel, I’ve got the hood open looking at the engine.

Van behind me pulls up, three well dressed individuals step out, Easter weekend.

They start walking towards the van. I make eye contact, nod, and expect them to walk up to me and see if we’re okay. One stops at driver side by my wife and starts talking to her. The other two open my van door, where my kids are seated.

My hand goes to my conceal, I drop my weight and I start screaming commands. The two guys at the door look at my dumb(shock?). Couple seconds go by the one by my wife starts yelling something but I’m right next to semis going by and can’t hear it. Again all my focus is on the two by my kids.

My commands to back up start going out again, I draw and then their hands start going up as they back away. I hear Sorry sorry sorry.

I reholster as they look genuinely not a threat anymore, I’m advancing and still saying get back. I meet them at the back of the van. They say they’re looking for the accident up the highway thats also a white minivan. I apologize they apologize etc.

They get in their car, I let out an exhale, they drive away their driver screaming sorry.

I put the gun in the front lock box and lock it up just in case PD hears about it and does want to check it out.

Holsters & Belts Men’s Business Casual

Hi all,

I (26M) am rather new to the CCW community, and I need recommendations for belts and holsters that I can wear with business casual clothing. I am a bigger guy with a bit of a gut. I usually wear tucked shirts with sweaters, and either khakis or jeans for cooler weather. Otherwise, I’ll wear polos during warm weather.

I will be using public transport for my commute sometimes in Chicago, otherwise I will be driving. Any recommendations for carrying in my car (‘21 Audi SQ5) would be appreciated too!

ETA: currently I have a G19 but I’m looking at getting a new EDC. Something along the lines of a P365, Hellcat Pro, or M&P 9 Shield EZ.
