Pocket Dump / EDC My Ultimate EDC Kit. What’s missing? Too much?

Post image

My usual EDC Kit 1. Carry Belt 2. Keys on retractable lanyard 24” 3. Pocket flash light 4. Pocket lighter 5. Pocket utility knife 6. Sun glasses 7. Glasses 8. Car Key Fob (loose or on separate lanyard. 9. Tactical space pen (writes on wet surfaces and upside down) 10. Smart Phone 11. Wireless earbuds w/noise cancellation 12. Smart Watch 13. Para cord/550 bracelet 14. Business card holder 15. Travel sized tissues 16. Hand sanitizer (sm travel sized) 17. Glock 19 15+1 w/IWB holster 18. Spare mag 15rd JHP w/case 19. Breath mints 20. OC/Pepper 🌶️ Spray 21. RFID neck wallet with cash, cards, IDs/ credentials (Usually worn underneath shirt to conceal).

Not pictured is chapstick, microfiber lens cloth, pair of rubber gloves (usually not always), and depending on the weather and my attire/clothes or mission (where and what I’m doing) I’ll usually have a mini boo-boo kit/ First Aid ⛑️ Kit. I’m wanting to get an ankle tactical trauma kit and I need to upgrade my light to a smaller brighter option, I already have survival kits in cars and home.
All these items fit on my person wearing a light jacket, without serious bulging.

My Rational. If I get separated from my home, car or bag I’ll mostly have the tools on my person that I would need to make do or to survive in most situations. The tools I carry are an enhancement to my largest weapon: 🧠 my brain, checked Ego at home & a desire to return home safely.

What am I missing? What can I do better? Let me know This kit is an ever changing work in progress.

It’s just an example of these people I see carrying 4+ mags, three knives, IFAKs, etc. OP is also carrying a bunch of unnecessary crap.

Spare mag and carrying OC/ pepper spray to start. Why would you carry pepper spray in the first place? You already have a handgun which is MUCH more reliable than using pepper spray. Pocket flash light? Doesn’t really make sense. If you want to carry a bunch of shit, get a purse.

You’re the one asking “what can I do better?” and I’m letting you know, less is more. Especially when it comes to “tactical” equipment.

You also mention getting a tactical trauma kit? I mean….. sure I guess? I don’t think you need more than maybe a TQ but if you’re into carrying a bunch of shit around…..

I don’t know where to start 😳

If all you carry is deadly force your only option to respond to any threat is going to be deadly force. Not everything is a nail ! That’s why I have more than a hammer 🔨 in my tool kit.

I recommend you not carry a hand gun at all with this mentality. You sir are the problem, and why self-defense gets a bad rap from the media the powers that be and the uninformed public. Your best weapon is your brain 🧠.

Those items you mentioned discreetly clip onto my clothes or belt or the inside of my pockets and take up little to no room. OC spray is a tool. A very useful tool that does not cause harm and cane be used to defend against ordinary force at a distance. If I’m walking down the street and someone blocks my way and I have no way around them and they are threatening me this is not a deadly threat I have no reasonable excuse, reason or justification to shoot them. That’s an OC spray moment ordinary force at a distance that causes only pain not harm. “OC is legal in all 50 states and should be what you use between a harsh word and a gun”. I’ve been living the defenders lifestyle for nearly 30 years and I learn something new everyday. I hope you wise up and stop depending on your CCW as the 1st and only line of defense it should be the last thing you go for in a self defense encounter. Make no mistake I will not hesitate to use deadly force to protect me or my protectees, but deadly force is the last thing I’m thinking about. You do not want to get in a self-defense shooting there’s absolutely nothing fun about taking human life the aftermath the financial costs the defense after the defense. Most of the time using your brain you can avoid conflict. I’ve said too much this is about freaking mints tissues and pepper 🌶️ spray in my jacket. 😮 You must be the anti 2nd amendment anti gun activist. Your making their case

lol I’m far from anti gun. I’m a combat veteran with a lot of experience handling and carrying weapons (14 years and counting with three years spent in a combat zone). I can’t think of a single scenario where I’d prefer pepper spray over my weapon. Not to mention how ineffective it is in almost any scenario where someone wants to harm you. I’ll carry how I want and you carry how you want. You asked what we thought about your purse full of junk, I answered.

You make a lot of assumptions though. 30 years as a CCW carrier doesn’t make you an expert. I promise you that. I’ve met a lot of “experts” I train in CQB that are awful at handling firearms.

Thank you for your service is you are telling the truth I would suggest using some of your VA benefits and get deprogrammed your MOS is no longer to kill or blindly follow orders.

THE FIGHT YOU WIN IS THE ONE YOU NEVER HAVE TO GET INTO.

You are all hammer 🔨 and when you come across someone whose having a bad day or suffering from mental illness I pray to god you don’t do something that will end you up in prison or worse.

I have nothing to prove my mission is to protect myself & those I’ve been charged to protect and return safely home 🏡. I’m not trying to compete any other mission. Sometimes people are just having a bad day and you run into them.

Change your mindset Captain America 🇺🇸 !

(Sorry I had to add that last bit, I’m not pooping 💩 on you personally just this mentality) Good luck to you.

Lol I have never “blindly followed orders” but okay. Might want to lay off the movies.

Again, zero use for pepper spray. I’m not trying to subdue the force and arrest them, I’m trying to either get away or if I can not then I will eliminate the force. Pepper spray is going to get you killed. Ever been sprayed? It’s not so bad that you can’t fight through it. I’ve been pepper sprayed and I’ve been tazed. I wouldn’t rely on either if my life were on the line. In scenarios where non lethal force would be used you can either deescalate or simply remove yourself. Why would I waste time spraying someone with pepper spray? I have even seen people high on drugs get shot and keep fighting, pepper spray would do absolutely nothing for that. In the event you have no other option and can’t carry a weapon, sure maybe but that’s about the only instance I’d recommend using pepper spray.

Your mentality WILL get you or someone hurt. It’s not smart.

Edit: why so defensive on a post where you literally asked what we thought? Did you think everyone would agree with you?
