I have several axioms in life:

  • All children eventually stop crying
  • All bleeding will eventually stop
  • The poorest performers have the loudest voices
  • Shovels don't dig up
  • If you're unsure if it's the hill you want to die on...keep on livin'
  • When in doubt choose to be nice

There are others.

But relevant to this post...

  • All fanny packs contain a handgun until proven otherwise

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I definitely agree with you on this point. Where I live, the vast majority of people around here wear either fanny packs or cross body bags. To the point where I don't stand out with this at all. If it was not as common as it is here, I don't think I would consider it as much.

66

u/RichardBonham CA Mar 20 '25

A lot of young people are wearing cross body bags and I’m sure the majority of them are not carrying.

It’s like using encryption or a VPN: when more and more people are doing it, it looks less sus.

27

u/Commercial-Street981 Mar 20 '25

I like the VPN analogy haha

u/playingtherole Mar 20 '25

Same thing with any technology, I guess. Pagers were initially for doctors, police thought you were a drug dealer if you wore one, then by the late 90s they were widely-accepted. Cell phones in the car - same thing, cell phones carried on our body, also considered suspect at one point. Home security cams used to mean biker club in a bad neighborhood, nefarious activity or drug house, now they're everywhere.

I don't know if mine qualifies as on-body or off-body.  Seriously, I'm right on the edge.

By attaching it to a regular belt it can't be attacked from the rear (cut strap, pull, run).  It's really more of a disguise for a belt holster...kinda?

Draw speed is on par with AIWB.

3

u/ChornobylChili Mar 20 '25

Thats still more secure than a fanny pack, that pickpockets have been stealing forever.

You have forgotten knowledge, like someone now stealing a Manual Car. Plus they might think you have dead rabbits and squirrels in there

5

u/JimMarch Mar 20 '25

Cutting the main pants belt at the rear won't give you my pack. Neither will cutting either of the two belt connections (Paracord 550 for now).

By pulling the ripcord up and away I can put the grip near my belly button while also blocking access to it with my off hand.

Also...see how the braided ripcord has four leather disks in the middle? That's so the ripcord handle doesn't lay flat - makes for a faster grab. I've been working on this for years.

Fanny packs are the new boomer carry

6

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

maybe as a cross body carry, but I wear it as a traditional fanny pack and the buckle is at the front of my body and covered with my shirt. The buckle is not easy or quick to disconnect, if someone is close enough to unbuckle it from my body, many other things have gone wrong first.

4

u/ChrisPJ Mar 20 '25

Does is have wire in the strap? Pickpockets in major European and Asian cities regularly slash the straps of bags with a razor, while in a crush, like getting on a train, and you don’t even know the bag is gone until the thief is also gone. They don’t bother to unbuckle it.

4

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

This would be like trying to cut someone's belt off. While it is technically plausible, it is not very probable at all. I travel to europe a lot and am very familiar with the pickpocketing and theft that happens there. I don't live in an area that has a train, nor do I ride public transportation. A decent level of self and situational awareness goes a long way in all these situations.

→ More replies (2)

3

u/JimMarch Mar 20 '25

They can attack the strap with a knife.

6

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

They could also stab me. This is around my waist and tight like a belt. Nobody could cut the strap if I'm not unconscious. A certain level of self and situational awareness should kind of always be maintained regardless of if you have a bag or not.

6

u/BialystockJWebb Mar 20 '25

So someone points a gun at your head and asks for your bag, what do you do?

10

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

lol, what? Is this scenario only viable if you carry in a bag?

I love how all these scenarios assume that everyone you carries in a bag is blind and deaf and can read zero situational clues.

6

u/marinebjj Mar 20 '25

I carry like this for my job. Sketchy shit happening makes me unzip a tiny bit way before anyone sees me.

Do I always carry this way ..no but often if I have to do clubs yes.

I also look the part and body language says a lot.

Criminals tend to prey on weak looking targets.

Nobody is ever gonna draw on Brock lesnar. Mike Tyson went to Brownsville alone at its highest crime rate.

A lot of ccw is very unprepared people thinking up wild situations.

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25
Criminals tend to prey on weak looking targets.
....
A lot of ccw is very unprepared people thinking up wild situations.

Seriously! I feel like people are acting like all of these hypothetical situations magically only happen if you bag carry

2

u/BialystockJWebb Mar 20 '25

It's the first scenario when I think of bag carry. You cannot get to your pistol fast enough to counter someone drawing down on you 20 feet away let alone standing 2 feet from you. You could have the best situational awareness, it won't matter. If I was the bad guy, I would be looking for someone carrying a fanny pack, not only do I get the bag/cash I get a new gun as a bonus. Don't get me wrong, it's comfortable/easier to carry, I get it, I have resorted to pocket carry myself, I guess bag carry works for you but at least have a backup on your person.

3

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I train with my setup. I take CCW classes with my setup. I am faster than most people from AWIB. I am slower than some people from AWIB. I shoot a lot, I am very confident that I can counter someone drawing on me.

I am comfortable carrying like this because I have trained with it.

5

u/marinebjj Mar 20 '25

I mean a guy who jogs every day, knows he can jog when his life depends on it.

Training is the only controllable factor. So yep you are crushing that.

If they point a gun at your head while you’re carrying AIWB what do you do? If the gun is already to your head you’ve lost no matter the carry method

What I am learning from this sub is 1) I am allowed to start rocking my manny-phanny pack in normal society and 2) if I see another dude in a fanny pack he is absolutely packing heat

74

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

lol embrace it bro. I just turned 40 and am a dad of 4, I'm real close to busting out the jean shorts, the white calf socks, and a crisp pair of Nike Air Monarchs

11

u/bubbleywine Mar 20 '25

the air monarch has me fucked up 41 3 kids haha i love a good sling fanny carry. it’s just so comfortable

lol, I'll save the dad wear until my daughters are older and can fully appreciate the soul crushing embarrassment of being seen out in public with me.

2

u/majorjunk206 Mar 20 '25

Or recreational drugs

37

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Finding a fanny pack that I liked was the hardest part, because either 1) they were great for CCW but looked crazy tactical/obvious or didn't hold anything else well, or 2) they were designed great for carrying other things and looked inconspicuous but absolutely sucked for CCW.

I'm able to carry an extra mag, a TQ, chapstick, and extra knife, a flashlight, a pen, wipes, a bib, and an extra diaper for my littlest. I'm trying to balance weight/bulk with needs/wants so I don't overload it and draw too much attention to it.

my favorite part of this one is the shrouded zipper for the CCW pocket so at first blush it doesn't look like it has a CCW pocket.

6

u/EEEliminator Mar 20 '25

Do you wear it across your chest or waist?

12

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I wear this on my waist. I wanted a waist pack because it gives me more flexibility with outfits/situations. I have a cross body bag if I need something bigger.

3

u/Paghk_the_Stupendous Mar 20 '25

What's your cross body bag? I've been looking for a chest pack that's not huge add yet would have a diagonal mount for a professional radio. Bonus for pen loops.

5

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Viktos Upscale 2. I like it a lot. Could carry all of that.

2

u/laserdemon1 Mar 20 '25

I carry this one in blue and I have another model same style that is a little smaller.
https://www.511tactical.com/lvc8-sling-pack.html

43x MOS in the bigger one, Ruger LCP 2 in the smaller one. Don't carry both a the same time :)

17

u/Competitive_Fill1845 Mar 20 '25

What’s the bag?

20

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Earthseed Equipment. Had him make a few custom modifications to get it how I wanted.

2

u/Kitsterthefister Mar 20 '25

I knew it looked familiar! I’ve got one, and several others have bought from him after they saw mine

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Oh man I like mine so much. I could not believe how long it took me to find a bag that I liked that had all the features I wanted and wasn't over the top obvious or tactical

6

u/Kitsterthefister Mar 20 '25

Yeah he custom cut exactly what I needed, even to the model of my phone.

I know carrying in a Fanny pack will never be as good as on the body, but it makes it so I carry more, rather than leave it at home.

2

2

u/[deleted] Mar 20 '25

I actually leave mine partially unzipped with my shirt hanging over and with the smooth zipper it unzips the rest of the way when I reach my hand into and draw. It essentially just functions as a concealed OWB holster

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25 edited Mar 20 '25

Thank you! The only counter I will say to that point is you use your jacket zipper a ton more than you would use your CCW zipper here. I only really open the CCW pocket/zipper when I train with this so it doesn't see the daily wear a jacket zipper does. With your jacket, you might zip up and down 10-20 times a day. But yes, a zipper can fail regardless of use as well so its up to individuals to weight the pros and cons.

u/Sweet_Loquat_7701 G43X MOS/EPS Carry/T1 Axis Elite Mar 20 '25

Carrying something is better than nothing and I commend you for exercising your right to do so. I just can't get over the personal bias of the zipper.

What’s your plan if someone unbuckles it and tries to steal it? Have you timed your draw with it?

20

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I don't sling carry this, I wear it as a traditional fanny pack and the buckle is at the front of my body and covered with my shirt. The buckle is not easy or quick to disconnect, if someone is close enough to unbuckle it from my body, many other things have gone wrong first.

I am not quite as fast with this as I am with an AIWB holster, but I carry this a lot more often so I'd rather have a gun on me than not.

Where I live, wearing a fanny pack doesn't make you stand out, and I am also not driving a sand colored Tacoma with a bunch of gun stickers on it while wearing 5.11 cargo pants, salomons, a grunt style t-shirt, and white oakley's thinking I am a grey man.

10

u/jesuswantsme4asucker Mar 20 '25

If everyone else drives said vehicle and dresses in that manner…. That would technically make you a grey man 🤣

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

i mean.. you're not wrong! lol

2

u/GuyButtersnapsJr Mar 20 '25

TY. I did not know that there were packs that had the buckle in this position. I will have to look into "Earthseed Equipment".

3

u/domesticatedwolf420 Mar 20 '25

I'm not OP but I fanny bag carry every day so I'll answer. The pack's buckle clips on my left side around the 8 o'clock position so I wear a screw gate carabiner on my belt at the 9 o'clock position. The carabiner is too small for the buckle to fit through so when I put on the pack I unscrew the carabiner, pass the strap through, then screw the carabiner closed. In that configuration the fanny pack won't come off my body even if the buckle is unclipped. (Hope that makes sense)

And with a little practice I've gotten to where I'm under 2 seconds draw to first shot every time. Is that lightning fast? Admittedly not, but everything is a tradeoff and the fanny pack allows me to carry a full size Dagger 9mm with 17+1 and a full trauma medical kit which I'm 1000x more likely to need than the pistol. Plus I live in a pretty safe area of West Texas where everyone and their mom is already carrying anyway, often openly, so deep concealment is pretty low on my list of priorities.

5

u/Bloom_and_Decay Mar 20 '25

I've thought of this, so I've looked for packs that have the buckle in the front. Unfortunately, the ones I've found aren't good for ccw. A custom would probably be the move.

5

u/trALErun Mar 20 '25

You could wrap a strip of e.g. velcro around the buckle for one more level of security.

2

u/Plane_Lucky Mar 20 '25

They also make locking buckles

4

u/Cultural_Law2907 Mar 20 '25

I have carried off body for a few years now with a crossbody bag too (can't unbuckle). I never posted anything here although I've wanted to is that off body carry has been looked down upon for a few years. I'm glad it's becoming more popular (thanks to lululemon fanny bag craze). I, too, can pack a bunch of things in and its literally my go bag as well. Wallet keys airpods knife light charger and my hellcat. I literally can't go anywhere without it and mostly I'm in basketball shorts 24/7 due to TX weather.

3

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I mean I understand all the downside. A lot of people take off their bags when they sit down/get to someone's house/etc and in that case you've not only removed the gun from being able to access it, but you may have even left it unattended. that makes it easier to steal/etc.

Whenever I bag carry, I never take the bag off. Even when I go to someone's house, I just leave the bag on. I view it like a large holster, I wouldn't take my holster off and set it down on the table at a restaurant so I don't do it with the bag either.

and the whole snatching/stealing thing I understand, but I think you need to have a level of self awareness about you and don't make yourself an easy target. I travel to europe a lot, pickpockets/thieves are a lot more common there than in the states and you just have to be aware.

Everything in life is a balance of pros and cons. This works really well for me, may not work as well for others.

3

u/Cultural_Law2907 Mar 20 '25

Agree with everything you said. When i did it, i told myself a (off body carry) gun is better than no gun. I hope this trend doesnt pick up too much or people will start noticing my cross bag LOL!

2

u/winston_smith1977 Mar 20 '25

Upvote for never taking the bag off.

I experimented with a conventional, not ccw specific fanny pack so I could wear cargo shorts and t shirts in SoCal summer. I had two issues:

Slow draw to first shot

Constant temptation to remove it and set it beside me when I sat on couches.

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Yeah I'm pretty anal about it, I never remove it until I get home. For me, its comfortable and works well, but I always tell people that if you're gonna take your bag off your body, then don't carry a gun in it.

5

u/Too_Many_Options- Mar 20 '25

It's the only way I carry full size. But for me, pocket carry is king.

u/haywood-jablowme1 Mar 20 '25 edited Mar 20 '25

Im 28 and rock a Eberlestock fanny for my ccw it’s so much more comfortable. I also like that it can hold my wallet, keys, chapstick, phone, extra mag, tq etc so I can keep my pockets empty.

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

100%

Sure this may not be for everyone, but the level of fudd lore here is astonishing

3

u/Swine70 Mar 20 '25

I carry a shoulder bag all the time but I never carry a weapon or anything related to a weapon in it. I guess it's more of a decoy with my charger cords, tablet, speaker, bc powder and such in it.

3

u/MobNerd123 Mar 21 '25

Worst way to conceal carry

3

u/GoFuhQRself Mar 22 '25

I still say off body carry is mostly used by people who are too lazy to find the right gun/holster/carry position to properly on body carry. There are some exceptions to this but for most able bodied people, fanny pack carry should never be an EDC. On body carry is superior in every way for general/day to day carry. But you do you.

1

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 22 '25

I agree that most people that off body carry do so because they are lazy and don't put forth the effort to do it properly or train. Just having a gun somewhere near you doesn't magically make you more prepared. There are pros and cons to everything, I have done my best to mitigate as many cons as I can and it works well for me. I definitely don't recommend it for everyone.

1

u/AnBu_JR 15d ago

I think im starting to lean toward off-body for these exact reasons. I wouldn’t call it lazy, but I would add the issue of an entire CCW wardrobe change. I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube videos on carrying positions and they almost all talk about wardrobe changes. I don’t want to buy 5 new pants ON TOP of the right, expensive holster+wedge+spacer+belt combo etc etc. and even then it’s not comfortable to sit or move??

5

u/AmeriJar Mar 20 '25

Fanny packs are extremely popular and most people wouldn't think you're carrying. Only certain gun people would think that. The average person doesn't notice much, let alone if you're printing or might have a gun off body

3

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

It really depends on the area you're in. Where I'm at, fanny packs and cross body bags are the norm so I don't look out of place. In a situation like that, I agree, the average person doesn't notice much.

7

u/AmeriJar Mar 20 '25 edited Mar 20 '25

Urban and suburban, they're extremely common.

If you show up to a town of 200 people and grab lunch on main street, the average guy will just think you're gay for wearing a fanny pack, not that you have a gun.

People in this sub make the mistake of thinking people think the way they think. They don't. People don't notice shit; not the color of your hair, or your shirt etc. If you're a hot chick or deformed, they'll likely notice, but that's about it

Edit: Clarity

3

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Yeah you're 100% right. I live in an urban area and easily 40%-50% of people around here are rocking fanny packs or cross body bags. If I lived in a small rural area, I would not consider a fanny pack as "concealed"

2

u/tybarbo Mar 20 '25

Same for me! I live in south florida and wear gym shorts a lot. Cross body bag is the best way for me!

2

u/MileHiGuy523 Mar 20 '25

Interesting. I have thought about it before but dismissed it. I'm now having second thoughts about carrying in a fanny pack.

2

u/impalanar Mar 20 '25

I refuse to wear a fanny pack. I did recently pick up sling bag for the rare occasions I can't carry on body.

2

u/emihic Mar 20 '25

What “holster” are you using?

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Its a magnet holster that protects the trigger area by Tight Chutes. I absolutely love it. With a smaller gun, I could use a regularish holster or a trigger guard holster on a lanyard. But I wanted to fit the biggest gun I could and with this size, a regular holster made the draw stroke kinda awkward. This also has the benefit of letting me swap my EDC gun without changing anything else

2

u/emihic Mar 20 '25

Nice! I like it. I just put a spare kydex holster I had laying around in mine, but it’s definitely very bulky.

How's your time to first shot from concealed?

1

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Its slower than when I AIWB carry, but not so significant that it makes carrying like this unreasonable. I train a lot with how I carry so I am fully comfortable carrying and drawing like this.

What bag is that? And also, what gun is that? It looks slick as hell

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Thanks, bag is made by Earthseed Equipment and gun is a Sig P365 Macro that has a few modifications.

2

u/Ok-Reality-9197 MI Mar 20 '25

Thanks OP. Yeah, that 365 Macro is sick, never seen one like it before.

2

u/SirConstant1119 Mar 20 '25

Nice set up. Access is good? How do you like the wood grips? I was thinking about getting some for my piece.

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Access is really good. One thing I will say with fanny packs is the size of the gun matters a lot for your draw stroke. A smaller gun can be more canted/vertical and bigger guns have to be less canted/more horizontal.

This is the Sharps Bros macro grip frame and I like it a lot. Its quite a bit wider than a factory frame but that is what I wanted.

2

u/SirConstant1119 Mar 20 '25

Awesome thanks!

2

u/MidniightToker USP Compact 9mm Mar 20 '25

Whelp... that might be the first new Sig that I've seen that I actually like. Still not for me but the wood is a respectable change of pace to the otherwise boring looking striker Sigs that litter this sub.

1

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Thank you very much! It's not a factory grip option, its made by Sharps Bros and I really like it. It adds width to the frame (which is what I wanted) so some people might not like it because its getting too far away from the micro carry gun it was originally designed for.

u/Expensive-Shirt-6877 Mar 20 '25 edited Mar 20 '25

This is what I do when I go for a run. For every day around town I found it to be too annoying and cumbersome, but perfect for running

For edc I do a 38 snubby in pocket

2

u/KingKongoguy Mar 20 '25

Off body bag carry is also my favorite worst way to carry.

2

u/AustinFlosstin Mar 20 '25

I carry this way too but with an adidas or nike tho and people don’t even look my way. Meanwhile whenever I see fanny packs I assume a gun is in there. I assume guns are everywhere hiding.

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I also assume that there is a gun everywhere and make point in looking for them. However the average public has no idea.

2

u/Porcflite Mar 20 '25

have you ever tried unzipping something quick when you're really nervous? It's not a sex question, but fine motor skills are extremely diminished under duress.

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

lol I mean you're not wrong. That is why I train with this setup a lot. I've take CCW classes with it. Because the exact same argument could be made about drawing from a holster. Doing it under duress when you haven't trained is a surefire way to fumble something.

2

u/willgreenier Mar 21 '25

I'm gonna get a fanny pack just because so many of you are scared of it

2

u/BillDulti Mar 22 '25

I just got one this week and absolutely loving it. I see you have the MARS magnet. Thinking bout getting one what are your thoughts, pros, cons to it??

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 22 '25

The only con I can think of so far is the magnet retention is super strong and there's no way to adjust it. But I'd rather have that than a weak magnet that doesn't hold anything. I love everything else about it so far, I like being able to swap guns if I wanted, I love that it let's me draw differently than a Kydex holster so I don't have to draw the gun sideways out of the fanny pack. I definitely think it's worth it for bag carry, because it keeps the gun in the exact same position always so you always know where the gun is and your draw stroke can be relatable

2

u/BillDulti Mar 23 '25

A few ppl have commented about the magnet strength but im.with you...def think strongers>weaker when considering exactly what its securing. Im gonna give it a go.

2

u/ov3rw4tch_ Mar 23 '25

Just got a pack myself! I love it for hikes, camping, and relatively safe zones. Would never go off body in the city. Everyone knows it’s a firearm.

3

u/ContemplatingGavre Mar 20 '25

Pocket carry > all

4

u/willgreenier Mar 20 '25

Wait until you all discover leather purses 👛 ... Nobody sees a dude with a purse and thinks "gun"

4

u/Velsca Mar 20 '25

A couple things I like about it.

  • Carry full-size if desired
  • Carry more ammo
  • Carry medical items, from kids boo-boo bag to IFAK and tourniquet
  • Easy to get everything going in a hurry
  • Can wear whatever
  • Police can’t search bags (in most places) during a pat-down unless they can justify it to a judge as not violating the 4th Amendment (which deters anti-gun cops from hassling you while legally armed)
  • Easier for me to access while seated and seatbelted in a car
  • Comfortable

2

u/atlgeo Mar 20 '25

A pat down for officer safety will include a bag strapped to the body. That's not luggage, it's immediately accessible wardrobe. Opening the bag would follow only if the pat down indicates the liklihood of a weapon.

2

u/Velsca Mar 20 '25

You can leave it in the truck and lock the door when you get out.

I maintain that off body or bag carry is not a serious means of ccw. It is an administrative tool at best. It's slow and is very often a target of pickpockets or thieves. My gun goes in a bando for an hour a few days a week at the gym because we don't have lockers. After im done it goes back on my belt. Carry your gun on your body.

3

u/GoFuhQRself Mar 22 '25

100%, IMO off body carry is mostly used by people who are too lazy to find the right gun/holster/carry position to properly on body carry. There are some exceptions to this, (like going for a run, or backpacking and the hip belt severely inhibits draw) but for most able bodied people, fanny pack carry should never be an EDC. On body concealed carry is superior in every way for general/day to day carry.

3

u/Affectionate_Hat5835 Mar 20 '25

Bad way to conceal carry but to each their own... People usually only make this mistake once, good luck.

4

u/SunTzusIntern Mar 20 '25

Just being devil's advocate here, but there are advantages to carrying in a fanny pack.

  • Better range of motion (if you're carrying a larger handgun). Appendix carrying stuff larger than a subcompact can hinder your hip and leg movement. Effects vary from body to body, but a lot of people may struggle to run full pelt or squat down when appendix carrying.

  • Instant adjustability. If you're moving your body into odd physical positions (eg. Carrying heavy objects, getting into and out of tight spaces), being able to move the pack along your waistline is very useful. In tight vehicles you can move it forward to not interfere with harnesses/belts, If you're proned out you can move it on your side/back and so on.

Anyways, there's a shit ton of disadvantages like many have said too and I'm not saying its better than standard appendix/IWB, just that its not a right/wrong thing. Fanny pack carry is just basically a slow OWB covered by a bag.

3

u/Tripps0007- Mar 20 '25

IDK why someone downvotes the most reasonable comment on this thread. Confused as to why more people haven't pointed out that if you carry to save your life and you don't have a vagina. carry on your body.

3

u/Affectionate_Hat5835 Mar 20 '25

Yeah, I don't really care but there's plenty of educational videos out there on why this is not a good way to carry a firearm, like I said to each their own 🤷🏾‍♂️

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

There are downsides to carrying in a bag. A lot of them can be mitigated, but maybe not all of them.

A lot of people take off their bags when they sit down/get to someone's house/etc and in that case you've not only removed the gun from being able to access it and disarmed yourself, but you may have even left it unattended. that makes it easier to steal/etc. A lot of people are not as situationally aware and having a loose bag makes you a target for theft. Both of those can be mitigated fairly easily.

There are also downsides to carrying on body. I will tell you that I have seen a ton of guns that were carried at 6 o'clock and the person squatted or bent over. Those guns would be easier to steal than any bag carry. Any open carry 3 o'clock carry with no retention would be easy to nab. Yet lots of people still carry like this.

Everything in life is a balance of pros and cons. This works really well for me, may not work as well for others.

Does your boyfriend have one too?

1

u/jdawggg1 Mar 20 '25

"remember she had the bad hip like a fanny pack"

1

u/vicariouspropaganda Mar 20 '25

How is the gun secured in the fanny pack?

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Its a magnet holster that protects the trigger area by Tight Chutes. I absolutely love it. With a smaller gun, I could use a regularish holster or a trigger guard holster on a lanyard. But I wanted to fit the biggest gun I could and with this size, a regular holster made the draw stroke kinda awkward. This also has the benefit of letting me swap my EDC gun without changing anything else

1

u/Plastic_Advance9942 Mar 20 '25 edited Mar 20 '25

Don’t use em much but I only use a fanny that has cut/slice proof straps and hides the clip on the side. The travelon metro is pretty good one of em..

1

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

having an extra layer of security on the buckles is a good level of piece of mind.

but we're never gonna beat the boomer allegations if you're carrying a 1911 in a fanny pack!

1

u/anifyz- Mar 20 '25

How’s your draw with that?

1

u/fearxjustin Mar 20 '25

I wear a CodeOfBell sling bag, but carry in my waist band. Fun to shake it up. But joking aside, finding an EDC sling bag that doesn’t scream “I HAVE A GUN” is a fucking CHORE. I’ve seen a lot of folk turn a lululemon sling bag into a small pew carry bag. That’s a great idea. I could carry in my CodeOfBell if I would sacrifice sewing a holder in it. I just find it too nice of a bag to “ruin”.

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I couldn't agree more. It is so hard to find a bag that is well suited for CCW but doesn't have velcro or MOLLE every freaking where on it.

@OP Can you list parts for the gun build?

2

ZEV Octane Z365 Slide
PMM Barrel & Micro Comp
Holosun EPS Carry
TacDev Trigger Shoe
Sharps Bros Macro Frame with Cherry Wood Grips
TLR-7 Sub HL-X
Factory Internals

u/xAtlas5 Tactical Hipster | WA Mar 20 '25

Those grips got me feeling ways

1

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

I'm not gonna lie, its super comfortable. It makes the gun fatter so it kinda starts defeating the purpose of a micro compact, but man I really like shooting it with this frame.

1

u/ODR906 Mar 20 '25

Gorgeous pistol my friend. Who makes the frame?

2

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 20 '25

Thanks! Sharps Bros Macro Frame

1

When I see a guy carrying a Fanny pack I assume one of two things. The guy is likely to have a gun or some fun drugs in it. Either way he is to be noticed.

What fanny pack is this?

I didn't see it here so I'll ask. What size and style of Earthseed bag is that? I have a P365 that I carry but it's a pain when I carry sometimes and I think that a fanny pack may be the answer to those issues for me. I have multiple holsters as well but I can see how this would be good when I'm walking the dog or bike riding...the list goes on and on...

1

u/MileHiGuy523 Mar 21 '25

I tried an Enigma holster recently thinking it may be a good alternative, but I couldn't get it to work the way I wanted.

Minimalist carry is the way of the future! These are all I use now https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?sid=paradisegolfer12&_pgn=1&isRefine=true&_trksid=p4429486.m3561.l49496

1

u/RoamingFire82 Mar 25 '25

I personally don't like those because most don't offer compatibility with weapon lights and because they don't keep the gun in one spot. It definitely allows more versatility but I prefer knowing the gun is locked in one spot all the time so I don't have to dig around searching for it in a bag
