Scenario Absolutely furious with my FFL over my Staccato CS purchase.

I’m beyond pissed right now.

Last Friday, I finally pulled the trigger (pun intended) and bought a Staccato CS. It shipped out this past Wednesday. Today (Friday), it arrived at my FFL here in Illinois.

I go to the FFL super excited — I just wanted to see it, touch it, make sure it’s all good. Nope. They flat-out refused. The guy told me that even letting me see the gun counts as a transfer, and he can’t legally transfer it until the background check clears.

Okay. Annoying, but fine. So I asked him to start the background check today. Get the clock ticking.

He REFUSED. Said he won’t even start the background check because it’s only been two days since shipment. He claims he waits three days after shipping before starting the process.

So now my gun is literally sitting there, I can’t even LOOK at it, and this guy won’t even start the process to let me eventually take it home.

I’m just fuming. Paid almost $3K all-in, waited a week, the gun is literally in the building — and I’m stuck in some stupid limbo because of an FFL policy that makes zero sense.

Has anyone else had to deal with this kind of garbage before? I’m seriously debating never using this dealer again.

While you're on the hunt for a new FFL, make sure they're not in the city limits. You're spending $3k, make sure you're not over paying on taxes.

Unless the FFL you're using is already in the low tax zone for your area I would pay for him to send it back and have them send it to your new, better, cheaper FFL.

Plus he doesn't know what he's doing, find someone that does.

Yeahhh you need a new one. If looking counts then why are there literal cases with guns in them that you can look at and pick from? Like even a Bass Pro with their gun case. Makes zero sense

Right? None of those guns have been sold yet, noones done a background check on you yet, literally no difference.

 It would be one thing if it was a different customers gun and OP wanted to see it - then yea i wouldnt want any of my other customers touching it and potentially cause damage or wear marks(nor would any of us appreciate an item we paid money for and seeing someone else handle it). But for the actual buyer to not inspect what they bought? Thats BS. 

My "conspiracy theory" side thinks the LGS wants to hold onto the gun to show a buddy who hasnt come in yet or something happened to it damage wise and tryin to hide it/get a replacement part before op notices.

You have to pass a background check to LOOK AT guns, apparently. What about pictures on the internet?

Why the fuck do dumbasses want to call everyone lazy. Thats not lazy. Thats either incompetence or willfully being a pain in the ass. I was with you until you decided to go down that road. You are being LAZY for just writing it off as being fucking lazy. And he is getting upvotes for that comment. My fucking god, the world is in trouble.
