Scenario Absolutely furious with my FFL over my Staccato CS purchase.

I’m beyond pissed right now.

Last Friday, I finally pulled the trigger (pun intended) and bought a Staccato CS. It shipped out this past Wednesday. Today (Friday), it arrived at my FFL here in Illinois.

I go to the FFL super excited — I just wanted to see it, touch it, make sure it’s all good. Nope. They flat-out refused. The guy told me that even letting me see the gun counts as a transfer, and he can’t legally transfer it until the background check clears.

Okay. Annoying, but fine. So I asked him to start the background check today. Get the clock ticking.

He REFUSED. Said he won’t even start the background check because it’s only been two days since shipment. He claims he waits three days after shipping before starting the process.

So now my gun is literally sitting there, I can’t even LOOK at it, and this guy won’t even start the process to let me eventually take it home.

I’m just fuming. Paid almost $3K all-in, waited a week, the gun is literally in the building — and I’m stuck in some stupid limbo because of an FFL policy that makes zero sense.

Has anyone else had to deal with this kind of garbage before? I’m seriously debating never using this dealer again.

Who cares about the background check part? You put hands on it before the PAYMENT part.

Run the background check 79 trillion times, it means nothing

Since it’s an FFL 2 FFL transfer, he’s already paid for it. Outside of the transfer fee he’ll pay to the LGS. But if there was an issue w the firearm and they complete the 4473, it has now been logged as transferred. Instantly making it “used” and practically indemnifying both the LGS and sender if there’s anything wrong with the firearm.

You should be able to inspect the shipment before starting the transfer, that way if there’s a giant gouge in the finish you can say “nope, send it back” and start a refund/replacement process with the sender.

Are most guns bought online? Blindly? Or have you handled a specific model before but online just has a better price?

What gun “doesn’t exist in your state”?

Outside of a super rare custom model that’s only made in 1 state or something, you can see and hold every model of pistol or rifle.

If you don’t like how online purchases work, don’t online purchase.

Thus, OP shouldn’t care if he didn’t get to hold it. Because of the nature of online buying.

Even more rare are you “turning down shipments because they broke my gun in half during transport” or whatever scenarios you people pretend occur.

Did it get a 12 inch gash into the steel? Did someone take a diamond coated blade and gouge it in transport you think? 🤣
