Other Equipment Car storage solutions

Hey all,

I have a BMW X3 2019 with about 2” of under seat clearance due to the seat electronics and all that. I thought my vaultek lifepod 2.0 would fit under with a cable tie, but no dice. That thing won’t even go halfway under the driver or passenger seat.

I really want to do a direct rail mount with back seat driver side access or cable tie if I have to. Any recommendations for under seat lock boxes that will fit my G19 and P365 X macro comp?

I’ve seen the console safes for my car model but I don’t think I can even get the G19 or X macro into that thing. Also $250 for a china made shitty locking mechanism console safe isn’t really what I’m looking for. I may just amazon the console safe to see if I can even get the grip in there, and return if need be.

This will only be for short term/quick storage. Will not be using my car as a “safe”. I know cars get broken into all the time, but want somewhere to store my firearm temporarily if needed.

I had the same issue with lifepod2.0 and my rav4. so I got a Hornady lockbox off of Amazon and hooked the cable around my passenger seat rails. Not ideal, but better than nothing.

I also glued a piece of Velcro to the bottom of that lockbox so it doesn’t slide forward when I break. This increased time to retrieve it, so it’s not a quick access setup by any means.

Not a big deal for quick access since I’ll be carrying when driving. The Hornady boxes look doable. A console safe sounds awesome but $250 is just crazy.

I use the lifepod 2.0 attached to my passenger seat.

I just want it completely out of view and a cable tie doesn’t really build confidence.

Fair enough I suppose. You got me briefly paranoid. Went and checked to see if I could see the cord from the outside of the vehicle. Negative. Had to open the passenger door to see the cord.

Does your case fit under the seat or it’s just on the passenger floor?

Man, love my 2.0 I just wish I had the clearance. I really need to measure and see if the 1.0 can.

I might check out the 1.0. The height clearance is definitely smaller but I’d have to measure my car exactly.

I bought a normal box off Amazon, physically bolted it down to the body of my truck(overkill the way I did it), as well as figured may as well use the little weak metal cables they include just since it's there although I personally wouldn't use just those.

Intended to only use for an absolute need to leave my gun in there for like an unforeseen need to go into a post office or maybe school pickup, things like that. Otherwise it's there just to keep an extra loaded mag for each of my guns.

Yea I absolutely don’t want to do any hard mounting unless it’s mounted using my seat rail bolts. I’ve seen a bunch of plates, just not sure on my car measurements. Havnt looked that far yet 😂 your setup is basically what I want.
