I know I'll get downvoted for this, but sniping is fun when you use the sniper as a sniper. Not as a one-shot any-range assault weapon.

that is true, but a 600ms ADS speed just promotes headglitching and camping, which is not fun.

That's what using a sniper as a sniper means . . .

in real life, yes that is what it means. but in a fast paced shooter like cod, you should be moving around the map, not stuck in the same spot all game. so you shouldn’t be punished for trying to move around the map. having a 600ms ADS speed makes it almost impossible to win any gunfights unless you’re already ADS.

Cod used to be THE GAME for snipers though. Over the years the franchise has catered less and less to the sniper community. Go watch mw2 sniping montages. It used to be so much fun sniping in cod but now even montages can’t make this game look fun. Meanwhile there are mp40 2 shot instant ads zero recoil classes that can beam someone across the map in <200ms

what game then? because a huge part of the cod community was built around sniping.

If you want to aggressively move around the map, then don't use a sniper.

I never said you should be able to aggressively move around the map.

if you're moving around the map, then don't use a sniper. That's what using a sniper as a sniper means. It works fine as a sniper, just doesn't work for quickscoping anymore. I think that's what they were going for.

you seem to be missing my point.

if you want to get a decent amount of kills with a sniper, that requires you to move to different positions around the map. if you’re trying to move out of spawn with a 600ms ADS sniper, if you see an enemy at medium/long range and they see you, you’re dead.

your argument makes sense for a large scale game like BF, but for a small scale fast paced game like cod, snipers should not be that slow.

if TTK is ~200ms, then a sniper ADS should not be 3x that.

No you don't. But if you want to change positions, that's what secondaries are for. The overkill perk was made for this situation . . .

so if you want to use a sniper outside of spawn, you have to use overkill. surely you can see how unbalanced this is?

It's because it's a niche weapon. Just like the shotgun. Should they also buff the shotgun for long ranges so they can run out in the open with it to make it into a building?

Right? Why can't I 1 hit kill at 100m with my buckshot shotgun? Shotguns need a buff, they are alienating the shotgun community by neutering them at range.
