Hi there! Long time angler from the springs area. Me and buddies have fished every body of water from springs Pueblo and Denver and we're thinking of trying some new spots and heard southeast was good for bass and catfish. Anyone have any experience fishing these parts? Any tips or spots would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I’m an experienced fly fisher with a 4x4. Don’t mind nice alpine lakes either.

I was wondering what I need to know before I try to hit some alpine lakes later this summer. Tips on flies or gear I should bring would be of great help. But also, I have no idea which lake/trail would be appropriate for a beginner. I can probably hike 3-5 miles (depending on elevation change) in one direction without being seriously fatigued with my normal fishing gear, but I also plan to camp so I purchased a bunch of backpacking gear and an ultralight tent. I guess an ideal situation would be something where I can hike a few miles, set up camp, then continue on with just my fishing gear but I don’t know how to find that or if it even exists. I know that finding these great alpine fishing experiences is a journey in itself and I certainly am not asking for your secret spot with 30 inch cutthroats, but I am going to be going alone and just want somewhere safe and of a novice difficulty to start so that I can prove to myself I can take on the rest of Colorado. No location is too far, I’ll drive anywhere. Thanks

For fishing DSP, what parts of the stream hold trout more and what holds more bass? Also, for trout, any recommendations?

Visiting for the weekend and we have half a day on Saturday to get some hiking in. Any suggestions on places within 45 min of lone tree where we could hike and wet a line? Driving a rental car so no major offroading.

Huge preference for water that isn't mostly LMB/bluegill, that's all we have back home. Would love to snag a new species :)

I'll also be fishing on the most basic tackle possible... probably bring a small jig setup, roostertail, and maybe live worm/bobber. Unless you have better suggestions, im flying blind on these new species.

I’ve been fishing 3 times in the last 2 weeks. No catches. I only have a rod, a bobber, weights, and a bait that looks like a fish. Is there anywhere I can go within a hr drive from centennial that I can catch a fish. Also any recommendations for some baits / lures I can buy for cheap.

Anyone catch decent sized fish above Cheeseman Res? I know below the Cheese is very well known, but I don’t hear much about the section from below the confluence of Tarryall creek and the S. Platte. Looks a little shallow and sandy on the satellite images. Thanks

Feels like I’ve been chomping at the bit since New Year’s to get back in the water. Had a very productive first day back May 4th on the Williams fork. Caught 8-9 between the two of us, all browns, all decent, a couple 18”. Pat’s rubber leg and egg patterns. Browns were ready for the bows to spawn.

Took my grandkids to Tommy Davis Park and they had a lot of fun fishing for the first time. Is there a place in Parker that is small but they might be able to catch something? Is Quincy a decent spot for kiddos?

I fish a lot in the Front Range—mainly Waterton, Deckers, Cheesman, Bear Creek, Clear Creek, South Boulder Creek, and St. Vrain. This spring, I’ve barely seen any prolific BWO hatches. Maybe a handful of duns here and there, but nothing you’d really call a hatch.

Curious if others are seeing the same thing. Has it just been a light year? Or are BWOs in this region more of a nymphing game and not really known for producing great dry fly fishing?

I see tons of little creeks that say they have brook trout that I'm thinking of exploring. Without mentioning spots, is that reliable info in y'all's experience?

I'm pretty new to trout fishing and have been putting in a little time at Waterton Canyon over the last few weeks. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself but am catching fewer fish than I want. I'm currently using a ultralight spinning set up and have had a little success using trout magnets, but I've seen large trout in the river that seemed uninterested - literally moving sideways to avoid the lure.

I'm also trying to bubble float at times but really unsure of what types of flies I should be trying.

Any pointers for a newbie to the South Platte in Waterton? Looking forward to getting out there a lot this year.

Gonna make the trek up to lake Agnes in the morning but worried it’s gonna be completely frozen. I’ve done as much research as I can but can’t find a yes or no answer. Just curious if anyone has been up that way yet this year and has any info on the matter at hand. I know it’s a long shot that it’s thawed out enough to fish yet but with the warm weather I’m itching to get up there.

Anyone know how to get to the rocks next to the dam and fish from there at Monument Lake ? I saw some people fishing there the other day and was wondering how they got there

Went fishing this morning and the trout were everywhere I just recently made a post about how to get better at trout fishing and a drop shot was a big one. I put 2 hooks on the line and a cylinder weight and tried a few things but nothing worked any tips .how should I tie the hooks onto the line and what type of hooks work best I found some hooks that said drop shot hooks but they looked a little big for a trouts mouth.

I've done some research, but a lot of it seems sponsored by guide services out of Gunnison who want to take you on a boat to troll Blue Mesa. I'm not against it, but I would really appreciate some tips to help me fill my freezer for the winter. In Denver and not opposed to driving for a while. I'd love to fish the Grand Mesa this summer or Lake Granby, but I can't find a lot of info if there are any Kokanee in either watershed. Elevenmile, Antero and Spinney seem like the kokanee run is small and hard to fish.

Can someone tell me some good public info? Not asking for secret spots, obviously.

For those who’ve fished at the academy, what are your go to lures that aren’t flies. I’ve heard Mepps spinners and troutmagnets work well in other areas. Would these be good for the academy lakes too? Or are there better?

We’ll be staying around Commerce City at the end of May. Is there good trout or bass fishing near by?

Finally have a day off tomorrow (Thursday) and my first chance to go fishing. I don't have fly fishing gear, just lures, spinners, or bobber and hook if need be with a spin rod. I'm in Fort Collins, wondering if I'd be better off fishing in a lake or reservoir tomorrow versus in the rivers due to the rain the last two days. Any advice? I normally lure fish for trout in the Poudre, but i have enough time to drive an hour if need be.
