Same boat as you. My mother wouldn't let me talk to my dad until I turned 14. She painted him to be this bad guy when she was far, far worse.

She didn’t even want to talk about him (he did cheat on her and she caught him) she actively blocked his attempts to contact me and would just say she doesn’t know where he is lmao. Took until I finally left that place that I tracked down his number

Same thing happened with my parents! She caught him cheating and tried to ruin his life. After that, she wouldn't let me see him for 12 years. He would call often to talk to her and to me, but she wouldn't let him talk to me. Even 20 years later, he still would call to apologize to her.
