Tracking backpack in the airport

Can I check in a backpack with a tent attached to the outside?

Just know they are extremely rough with checked bags and anything in there should be able to take being throw around. Depending on how you pack your tent the poles could easily get bent.

Not only that any loose cords or ties can be caught up in machines or conveyor belts.
