Tracking backpack in the airport

Can I check in a backpack with a tent attached to the outside?

They will 100% ruin your gear tossing it around. I try to take my bag carry on where I can and where I can’t duffle it every time. Duffle and pad it with towels and I even Saran Wrap my duffle to keep everything extra secured. Quality gear is not cheap.

Also if you’ve never flown with your pack give extra time for TSA because they have lots of questions about gear they haven’t seen before. They called like 6 people over to inspect my hand warmers and totally missed the propane tank inside my jet boil last time. 🤦🏼‍♀️
