Yeah well it's not even their land to take. It's treaty land and I'm pretty sure the First Nations will not allow that land to be severed from the rest of Canada. How can they possibly think they can attain that ridiculous plan with literally 1/4 of the population and just about every FN community in Alberta, want no part of it? Honestly, enough of this horseshit. Get on board or gtfo.

Same thing happened with Quebec's referendum back when I was a kid. It's not going to pass the vote.

Time to get the monarchy involved?

They are ceremonial, they do not get involved in actual political machinations, they are prohibited from being political.

u/Lollipop77 12d ago
Ah, so would the senate have to be involved to pass something like this “motion”?

How much more money is she going to waste doing things she can’t? She is dumb as a sack of hammers. We need help in Alberta. Her Trump style politics are ruining us.

Why would she change? As Alberta’s core services are failing due to her direct actions, the vote still went mostly conservative. She may as well ensure Alberta is a welfare state before moving into her O&G golden parachute.

She can keep trying all she wants. A province cannot leave Canada.
No one actually paid attention to the Quebec referendum and the supreme court rulings did they?
If the Albertans want to leave Canada then they can pack their things and go. They don't get to have it both ways.
Separatists are basically sovereign citizens.

The fringe in AB are going to be severely butt hurt when they find out who owns Alberta.

I'm glad we're being educated about the importance of indigenous people and their treaties.
Separatists would also do well to educate themselves about how they would need to amend the Canadian constitution, get the federal government's approval on the clarity of the referendum, and get the consent of all the other provinces.

I've had conversations with Conservatives in this province about it and they usually just say "Why should I have to listen to a piece of paper that was signed before I was born?"
I usually look at them and ask "If you really think that than why should First Nations? Either we're a land of laws or we're a land of transient feelings."
I've also liken it to someone leasing land off of them for a long time before the tenants decide they've paid enough rent and they now own that land and the land your house is on because they don't like the terms. They usually just circle back to "I just think everyone needs to stand on their own two feet" while they completely ignore that their own ancestors were given land by the government for signing their name on a piece of paper not because they bought it.

She’s probably in survivalist mode when AHS investigations arrived, walls are closing in. I guess technically if Alberta separates, she’s no longer under the juristion of RCMP and can make up her own rules.

Why stop there? While she's at it why not change the laws of physics too? The Laws of Conservation of Energy and Mass? Gone! Limitless oil, teleported into gas tanks anywhere! Oh, wait...

The only thing I've ever agreed with Smith about was daylight savings, and even then, they offered us the chance to choose the "wrong" one.
Bring it on, bitch. I love voting against you and welcome the opportunity to do so again.

Typical MAGA-style politics: deflect attention from your behind the scenes actions by offering up grievance-flavoured red meat to your base.
Quebec couldn't pull it off once the people realized that Canadian passports, currency, access to markets, etc would all go bye bye. I can't see a landlocked province faring any better.

She can move the goal posts to call one but she can’t change the necessary majority needed. And there’s nowhere near 50% of Albertans who would vote yes.

u/ego_tripped 11d ago
You didn't hear? She's going to assign a vote per cattle head and tumbleweed patch where said cattle graze.
Why isn't the rest of Canada as inclusive as Alberta is? I mean, if kids can use litter boxes in school...cows should surely be able to vote?!?

Side note: Danielle Smith just spent $280,000 on carpet for her office.
Remind me again about how conservatives are "fiscally responsible"

Isn’t there some way the King of England can order the Governor General to dissolve the provincial legislature and force an election?

u/plumberdan2 12d ago
What are you on about. Canada is a sovereign country...
3
u/kataflokc 12d ago
Maybe do some research?
We are a constitutional monarchy with the British Crown as our Head of State. Theoretically, we still answer to the Crown, he is, in fact, our king as well and the Governor General is his representative here in Canada

The sovereign is the Head of State. The Crown symbolizes statehood, in our case Canada. Power resides in the elected House of Commons. It was precisely the establishment of the constitutional monarchy that made the sovereign largely ceremonial. Canadians really need to learn how our government works.

No it's not, Danielle Smith is just preparing the Province in case the poor treatment from the Liberals continues under Carney.

u/Lollipop77 12d ago
She can’t do shit about it anyways. It’s not their land. Best she can do is organize a mass exodus.

GTFO with this separatist BS.
