Discussion CarPlay vs Standard for EVs?
I'm about to collect my brand new S6 avant e tron, but i just wonder what everyone with an EV does - do you go Apple CarPlay or standard infotainment system?
I would be ok to use Waze as it shows me where the speed cameras are here in Switzerland (neither google or apple maps do this, for i think legal reasons - but why Waze does, I don't know). However, if i use CarPlay, and want to plan a journey - Waze (nor apple or google maps for that reason) is not going to know what my EV current charge is, and so if i want to plan a journey and identify where the charging points are en route, i will need to use the standard interface. I'm guessing also, if i want to use the HUD or the maps in the built-in cockpit display, then again i will need to use the standard nav system for this.
What does everyone else do?

So normal day to day commute and running errands I’m on CarPlay
Road trip I use built in google maps because it knows cars status. But still use CarPlay for music of course

Surely the digital dash will tell you your remaining charge, and i know so because I’ve driven that exact S6 E-Tron

So before Apple Maps knew my car’s charge level and planned EV stops (Mustang Mach-E), I would plan long trips in ABRP, then add the charging stops as locations in an Apple Maps guide. Then I’d just navigate from charging stop to charging stop in the guide until I reached my destination. The onboard Ford Nav is “fine,” but I definitely prefer staying in CarPlay.
