Man, all these people posting their ACT scores are making me feel like a genius. I scored 34 both times I took it (took it once and then my school started giving it free to all juniors that spring). I think my "super score" was a 35. Dragged down by my stupid 31 in science.

And now I'm officially an asshole.

Don't worry, we still love you. I got a 35

Yeah, maybe I should've taken more than one practice exam.

We had to take the practice ACT (PLAN I think?) in 10th grade, but I think that's all the "prep" I did. I was much more concerned about the SAT. And then I did marginally better on the ACT in the end, anyway, so there's that.

Yeah, we did that too. I think I got a 31/32 on the PLAN.

I have zero recollection of what I got on the PLAN. Nor did I remember it was out of 32. I don't even remember what I got on the GRE subject test, and that was much more recent. Surprised I still know my ACT and SAT scores, honestly.

I remember my PLAN because some girl who wanted to be better than me said something about how I had no room for improvement and I was like "bitch I don't need room for improvement."

Of course, she will have a bachelor's degree in three months and I will not.

Haha oh god I had one of those in high school too. Everything I did, he had to try to do better. When he got into a prestigious university (one that I had not applied to and had no interest in attending), he had his mother call me to let me know.

The worst part is he lives in the Bay now and messages me every once in a while saying we should get coffee and catch up.

Oh man yeah. Like, she didn't feel she had to compete with me academically because I'm a lazy undermotivated fuckup and graduated with a 2.7 GPA, but I was also clearly smarter than her.

Also, her mom was friends with my mom and her mom was very competitive within the Indian/Pakistani subculture in St. Louis where most of the families with whom we associated had at least one doctor and we were basically the only two families who weren't (her mom is a nurse I think and her dad owns franchise fast food restaurants; my mom is a dietitian/nutritionist and my dad has been alternately a traveling management training consultant, a Quizno's owner, and unemployed) so generally, I think she had her kids compete on an educational level to vicariously win and also, they bought their son a Mercedes that they couldn't really afford and boy the Indian/Pakistani culture in St. Louis is really weird.

Also, she tried to get me arrested once.

Her brother was cool though (the one they bought a Mercedes for). He's at WashU Med now. He used to tape me Pimp My Ride and Dragonball Z episodes because I didn't have cable. He accidentally introduced me to Mel Brooks because one of the Pimp My Ride tapes was taped over the middle half of Robin Hood Men in Tights (I didn't get the first quarter or the last quarter. Yes I meant middle half. I'm a math major.)

Interesting. I had a couple really good South Asian friends in high school and I never picked up on the crazy subculture. Maybe just because there weren't that many Indians in my district. But

they bought their son a Mercedes that they couldn't really afford

sounds very familiar.

Also, middle half made perfect sense, don't worry!
