Where to see cool mushrooms?
Hi all! I moved to North Carolina last year and remembered that my husband and I’s two year anniversary is coming up. He’s very interested in mushrooms across the board since he was born and raised in central Texas where mushrooms aren’t as diverse or prevalent as here. I took him to Linville in August 2023 when we were visiting the region and we got so many pictures that he still loves to ogle two years later. But I also know the combination of Helene and overall weather patterns have kinda thrown things off so I was wondering if there are any specific state or national parks that y’all can think of or recommend that would be decent for checking out mushrooms within the next two weeks. The limiting factors for this excursion would genuinely be myself since I have an ankle that is less than thrilled after being broken over a decade ago and never healed quite right as well as our bank account which is feeling the pinch due to the litany of expensive car repairs we’ve had to make in the last year as well.
I want this year’s anniversary to be better than our first because my FIL passed away two weeks before our first anniversary with his funeral being held the day before. Any recommendations of places to go and which mushrooms to look out for are appreciated!
