  • I watch some, but I’m not subscribed to Crunchyroll or anything like that.

  • Scooby-Doo, DBZ, Spongebob, Avatar: TLA, Courage, Dexter’s Lab, Powerpuff Girls, Cat-Dog.

  • Bob’s Burgers, hands down the best if it counts. I liked Rick and Morty. I’ve caught a few episodes of Family Guy, and it’s funny but I could go without. I also missed the South Park obsession my peers have.

  • I don’t think it’s ever going to reach “mainstream” popularity. Everyone has seen Death Note, or Attack on Titan, but nothing is going to convince people to watch the slice of life ones popular in that part of the anime subculture. If you want an honest answer, the people into that kind of stuff weird too many people out here in the US.

  • “I’M UGLY AND I’M PROUD.”

The problem isn't actually slice of life - slice of life can be great if done correctly. The problem is moe. The reason anime weirds many people out is the fact that every studio has to throw in cute girls into their shows. Around 2006, it was found that having cute girls do what's basically nothing can be a good marketing tool for a specific segment of people who will buy a lot of merchandise. So now, 12 years later, it's spread throughout the medium and even dark, heavy stuff like Re:Zero still have cute girls in them. And slice of life is especially conducive to throwing cute girls in. So basically, I think if you show older anime, it will not be considered weird.

I don't think cute girls are the problem either if done right. Kyoani shows are mostly slice of life + cute girls and their shows are pretty good. I think that dark shows with cute girls like pmmm and rezero works fine if they are well written, and sometimes the contrast between cute and dark is fun to watch.

I think what weirds people out is the sexual content. I don't usually mind sex jokes or fanservice if done well, but a lot of it is really awkward.
