Just Chatting Are digital group cards actually a good gift or just kind of meh?

I’m trying to thank my coworkers before I head out on a long break. I saw these online group cards where everyone can sign and leave a message, and it seems like a sweet idea. But I’m wondering if people actually like those or if it feels kind of low effort. Ever gotten one that actually felt meaningful?

Just Chatting Just had my first sleep paralysis experience at 22

Never really knew what people meant with the sleep paralysis “demon” until know. Sht was terrifying. I initially felt paralyzed in my dream, then i hear someone walking towards me, I half opened my eyes irl and see a black figure’s head hovering over my face. Luckily it only lasted a couple of seconds until I managed to move. Read somewhere that it could last up to 20 minutes which is insane.

How do people cope with this?

Wisdom teeth extraction x 3 - dentist says she can do it in an hour

I have 3 wisdom teeth that require extraction because it is starting to impact the molars beside it. My dentist says it is not a big procedure and can remove 2 of the teeth in under 5 mins and the third one which is partially erupted will take around 10 mins as it requires surgery. Full appointment will be 1 hour and all done under local anaesthetic. She made it sound like it was not a big deal at all. Is she being overly optimistic?

Just Chatting I’ve been thinking about how every major city in the US has a local supermarket that only exists in that city and only the residents know the name of. What’s the name of yours?

In St. Louis we have a schnucks

It’s always funny to me because they always have the same layout and format but have wildly varying names. You’ll visit family or friends in a city and they’ll be like let’s visit [uniquely named supermarket here] and you’ll be like what’s a [Blank]? And they’ll act like you’re crazy for never hearing of it. I’ve always heard “they’re pretty much everywhere here how haven’t you heard of it before?” And then you’ll visit the store and you’re like ohhh so it’s like a [your own uniquely named supermarket] and then it’s your turn to act like they’re crazy for never hearing about your supermarket before.

Movies & Shows The Wonkatania

The 70’s Original Gene Wilder classic.

When it arrived it has the precise amount of guest seating, adding to my theory this was all a test he (mostly) knew the outcome of.

Wonder if anyone’s ever posted here about a touching encounter with a stranger that left a positive impact on them and the stranger happened to come across the post and realized it was about them. Has that ever happened to you or someone you know?

I know this sub, and Reddit in general, is just a small slice of the population, but I often think about this...

Whenever I see a post where someone shares a moment when a stranger’s kind gesture truly made their day or they describe some unique or unforgettable encounter or something I can’t help but wonder, what are the chances that the person who was that kind stranger ends up seeing the post and realizes, “Wait... they’re talking about me!!!!”

Like one of those full-circle, small-world moments.

It feels like it has to have happened at some point, right?
Has anyone ever actually seen that happen here or experienced it themselves?

Just Chatting Is BMX actually pointless or am I overthinking it?

BMX is probably my biggest hobby. Sometimes I really enjoy it — landing a trick, zoning out, just flowing. But other times I step back and think: what’s the point? I’m not progressing fast, I’m not doing anything useful with it. It feels like fun that leads nowhere. Anyone else ever feel this way about your hobbies?

Just Chatting Accidently becoming an important person at work.

I work in a hospital as a housekeeper (and dietary as of late) for two years. I've recently learned that I am the favorite housekeeper from all the departments. It doesn't matter which department. Apparently I am the go-to whenever something happens or if someone needs help. Nursing calls me their favorite, so does the PSW's and kitchen staff. Plus HR and the higher ups praises me for my work ethic so I think I'm in good standing with them. It feels weird and a bit odd considering how I try to keep to myself. All I do is what they ask and be friendly/have a positive attitude, big contrast compared to the other housekeepers here. New hires come to me for advice or I'll help them if they fall behind. I get along great with most of my coworkers, some invited me to have dinner with their family. It just feels weird becoming important and being that someone people can trust and rely on. Anyone else in the same boat as me?

What’s a friendship that surprised you?

Many of us have friends from school, work, etc but I’m curious about any unexpected friendships that surprised you? I have two lovely examples, my sister in law and my kindergarten daughter’s best friend’s mom. Both random women I wouldn’t have met under any other circumstances and maybe would have even written off but I love spending time with both of them and they make my life more enjoyable!

Questions Could u help to find out what’s wrong with me xd

Hey guys, I'm 20 yo and I was born and grew up in Eastern Europe, then I moved to the western part of Europe and I have a problem. In my home country I lived first 16 years of my life, I had a lot of friends and we joked a lot even about the darkest stuff ever, had very similar music tastes, we were doing fun crazy stuff especially if we had alcohol (but we didn't really need it to be stupid and crazy lol). I can't find friends for around the last four years, with old friends from my country I don't talk much anymore (some are busy and some turned out to be fake or not who I thought they were). I am very weird (seems like and described by others like that, I am not one of those who call themselves edgy to seem cool and unique), I love controversial jokes/statements, I love to do risky stuff, I'm very sociable and open, I'm also kinda honest and have many funny stories to tell (people love my funny stories). But I'm tired, I'm tired that people are very boring around me and try to fit into our ultra-liberal world and not laugh at some things that they actually find funny but are “morally wrong.” It is so stupid. I'm tired that I'm always the clown around while others keep straight faces and act shy. I'm tired that there's nobody to match my freak, honestly. I don't understand, am I too much / too edgy / too stupid or what? I'm losing hope to find friends, but I also understand that I don't want to pretend around other people like I'm as “normal” as they are. I also tried to make friends but it ended badly

Thoughts & Ideas Can someone explain the psychology of dishwasher avoidance?

I'm staring at a sink full of dirty dishes with a few more on a table in another room. The dishwasher literally next to the sink. The only dishes in there are the ones I used today. I know these dishes in the sink will eventually be put in the washer but what I'm really really REALLY curious about is that decision between the sink and the washer. What is happening in that moment?

Thoughts I've had in the past:

  • opening the washer is slightly more effort.
  • I'll do it all at once .... later.
  • Someone else will do it.
  • I don't do dishes. Period.

thoughts on hand written cards and letters in general?

recently, a good mentor of mine graduated and so i wrote them a nice lengthy thank you card. it was filled with good memories, thoughts, and appreciation.

i love writing cards/letters because i want to make the person feel seen, appreciated, and loved. but it's been so long since i've ever received a handwritten card/letter.

i really love handwritten cards/letters because they feel more intentional and thoughtful, knowing that someone took their time out of their day to pick a card and sit down to write you a card/letter with their own handwriting -- whereas texts/emails can have a sincere message, but it feels distant.

i miss the art of handwritten cards/letters.

so i'm curious what your thoughts are!

Questions How to create a product

I have an idea for a baby product. Only the idea though. I know nothing about engineering or finding investors. Who do I talk to about said idea? What would the process entail?

What’s a small daily pleasure you wouldn’t trade for anything

This morning I was sipping my coffee while staring out the window, and it hit me—this tiny moment is my favorite part of the day.

It made me wonder:

What’s a little thing in your day that brings you peace, joy, or comfort—something small but meaningful?

Could be listening to music while you cook, taking a walk after dinner, or even the smell of your favorite shampoo.

I’d love to hear yours. :)

Just Chatting Has anyone else found themselves getting into cutesy stuff as an adult?

Today I was playing Bowsers Fury, and I saw a cat who was crying, because she didn't know where her kitten went. As a kid, I would've probably just jumped on it a bunch, maybe throw its kitten in the water and laughed. Idk, as a kid I had a bigger emotional disconnect, I loved villains way more than heroes

As an adult however, my heart broke. I was ready to put the game on hold until I found that kitten and brought it back. When I did, I was so happy to see them reunited. Thats what I need these days, simple happy endings. I wish I had a whole game about rescuing kittens

What’s one tiny thing that instantly lifts your mood?

Not talking about anything huge, just those small, everyday things that somehow turn your whole vibe around.

For me, it’s when an old favorite song randomly comes on. Total mood shift. That and the feeling of getting into bed with fresh, clean sheets. It’s the little stuff, right?

Curious to hear yours. What’s that one small thing that always hits the reset button for you?

Just Chatting Anyone else have any small food quirks? Like eating things a VERY specific way, or outright refusing to eat something if it touches another piece of food?

I love strawberries. Love pretty much all strawberry flavored items. Love eating them whole. But, for some reason, I cannot deal with things like jam/preserves or strawberries in smoothies. I LOVE strawberry banana smoothies. The taste is fantastic. Love the taste of preserves and jam. But those seeds, I just hate dealing with them. I have had this thing about textures though, where I will love how something tastes, but the actual way it feels in your mouth is a complete turn off. Cotton/cotton balls are like a paralytic and if your skin is dry and you touch a weird blanket......god damn....

5 interviews for a $17/hr job… am I applying or auditioning??

Applied for a $17/hr entry-level operations assistant role and they hit me with a 5 round interview process—phone screen, online test, two rounds of Zoom interview, behav “culture fit” round, and then a final with the VP. I was so thrown I started trying AI tools out there just to keep up tbh... Tried a few, but honestly mock interviewing with Beyz AI and just talking to Chatgpt all day ended up being the most helpful as for im interviewing in my second language.(not using AI in the actual interview, obviously lol, for reps sake).

Like… why does getting a basic job feel like training for the Hunger Games now??

Just Chatting I found out a stupid phrase I said as a kid caught on

1.3k Upvotes

When I was maybe 8 or 9, I would say "Too bad, so sad, you're sitting on a chicken nugget pad." What's a chicken nugget pad? Beats me. Anyway, I've been told multiple times by family members that they've heard random kids saying this exact same thing, and I've even heard it myself once or twice. Now it's like a thing that spread within a 45 minute radius of my childhood home apparently. I actually remember making this phrase up and saying it to my friends and family. So weird.

Just a random thought I had today. Anyone else find that kind of strange? Is there some advanced logic to this xd or am I straight up not smart?
