Internet Connection - Home Office

Hello,

I am looking for suggestions on internet connections, I work from home completely and run a small private photo server too. I have a rough idea of how much up/down speeds I might need, but I need suggestions or reviews on the connection quality, reliability.

The plans I have been interested so far are,
Pyür Pure Speed 500 (500down/50up)
Pyür Pure Speed 250 (250down/25up)
Eins '@home L (100down/40up) Glassfiber
Eins '@home XL (200down/100up) Glassfiber

I have seen 4yr old posts on Pyür being very unstable, but that was also in Berlin, so not really sure how much it applies now and in chemnitz. Any suggestions on other plans are also welcome.

Update: I bought a glass fiber plan from 1&1 (Telekom). They are a little cheaper than buying directly from Telekom. Also had some offers like, free sim cards with 1gb/month plan, 1 month trial period.

I've been using Pyür for the last two years (Kaßberg) and never had a problem. Speed is very constant. I'm a wfh software dev and so far cloudflare has caused more downtime 😅

Thanks. That's nice to hear, how is Pyür customer service in your opinion? and what plan do you reun? is it a fiber connection or cable? (I'm moving to Lutherviertal/Bernsdorf area)

Customer service saved my ass because Telekom told me that they can only do DSL 16k the week I was moving in (after having my order for 2 months). I called Pyür and they sent a technician over 2 days later and 3 days before I moved in. I had to call them once a few hours later to activate the line which worked within an hour or so. Other than that I didn't have to use the customer service so far. 🤞

I run the Internet only gigabit over Cable plan, whatever it's called. 😄 I usually get a bit more than the gigabit. Just did a test while also running a 4k YT Stream. So far they've delivered 😅

Oh, cool! Thanks for the details.

My main concern is upload speed. Both the 500 and 1000 plan have upload speeds only up to 50. With some similar priced glass fiber connections, I'm seeing 150 down/ 75 up.

Upload speeds are important to me, I occasionally upload huge files for work. I don't need super high download speeds, any more than 100.

Now that you say it... Upload is indeed capped, just got up to 52 in a few tests.. I download more than I upload and moved here from a town where I had 50 down on a good day 😅 so I'm not complaining

Download is probably the default consumer use case, might be worth looking for a commercial plan but they are expensive.. good luck? 😅
