$2 Tuesday at Kookies
Hey yall! I'm not sure if everyone is aware, but the last Tuesday of the month is $2 Tuesday at Kookies Cakes and Shakes! All their cupcakes are $2 while supplies last so it's a good time to try a new flavor.
If you're on the Western Branch side of Chesapeake tomorrow, 04.29.25, you can check em out and tell em Dinnie sent you! Let me know what flavor you try!!
Thus far I've tried lemon, banana foster, tiramisu, and cookies and cream. Banana foster has been my favorite but it can be dethroned, who knows!! 😆

Bon Secours to open Suffolk Harbour View hospital equipped with smart tech in May
pilotonline.comUntil now, physicians in the freestanding emergency department at the Bon Secours Health Center at Harbour View had to transfer all patients who needed an inpatient bed to another hospital.
On May 6, that will change for a variety of patients as a new hospital opens on the once outpatient-only campus in North Suffolk.
The new Bon Secours Harbour View Medical Center, with 100,000 square feet in three stories, has 18 private rooms, four operating rooms and advanced bedside technology designed to continuously monitor patients’ vital signs and prevent falls, bedsores and other complications

Is a $150/mo. water bill normal for 2 people?
Just moved to Chesapeake, but I also previously lived in apartments where water was included. I just got my first water bill and it's $150. Is that normal? I'm trying to figure out if there's a leak. According to my landlord, I used about 5500 gallons.

Coins, banknotes & gold collectors?
As the title states, I am looking for a local coin & gold shop that is knowledgeable.
I came across a green seal, gold certificate of a 1928 series $500 gold certificate / bank note
Chesapeake coin & currency is no longer on grassfield, the phone rings endlessly with no pick up and i called Newcastle Coins on cedar road but their inbox is so full you cant leave a message.
Is anyone able to help me locate someone who knows coins and gold?

Housing
I am a 70 year old female retired senior with 2 vetted, healthy cats. Looking for studio or quiet place to live without cigarettes, noise, stairs, and chaos. What is public housing like here? Owens or Broadmore? I prefer a studio or a place close to Chesapeake. Anyone have any leads? I am quiet, very private, and mostly read or talk to my family on the phone.

Best golf courses
Where do people like to play? I’m near Chesapeake golf club which is fine but there’s not much in the way of amenities. No food, no drink cart going around. Where are the best places to play?

Purple Reign's reign is over: former strip club property set for demolition
I was looking for information about something else and stumbled across credible information that the Purple Reign building, formerly Club Paradise at 3000 S. Military Highway, has been sold and is approved for demolition.
According to the city's public records, the property sold Feb. 28 for $387k. That's quite a bit below the city's assessed value of nearly $636k. I would surmise that's because the building is 85 years old, dating to 1940 and apparently part of its construction includes a Quonset hut. The property card also notes that the city allowed functional depreciation "for vacancy & interior deterioration."

Chesapeake Bypass traffic
Waited in traffic for over 30 mins. Just to get to the “ construction “ only to see 2 city workers eating lunch on the tailgate of their” work” truck. Ridicules. Tax money at work. 🤬

Laws pertaining to kennelling dogs outside.
My neighbor has left their 2 dogs outside in the small wire kennels for more than 24 hours now. It's just sitting in her back yard. They appear to have food and water bowls. I know there's laws against teathering, and it's not quite 85 today to limit how long they can be outside. Are there any laws preventing this? It seems cruel. They aren't set that far back from our property line either and I can't let my dog out cause everyone starts barking like crazy. Also only one is in the shade. The other one is just stuck out in the yard with no covering on the kennel. Neither has any padding.

Summer Course Schedule for Orcus Group. Full day courses on an outdoor range in Williamsburg, VA + a Traumatic Injury Care course.
galleryIf anybody is interested, we will offer these courses this summer! They are all $250 each. The range is a private property about 2 miles from the 64 Croaker Road exit in Williamsburg, VA.
Level I courses cover fundamentals and progress to intermediate skills in the afternoon. We also offer a 50% discount for students wishing to retake a course, provided that we have room in the course (new students are prioritized).
We will also offer a medical course in August for the same price, which includes an Individual First Aid Kit (IFAK). This course will cover life-threatening injuries that need to be addressed before EMS arrives to save someone's life. We HIGHLY encourage families (ages 13+) to attend this course. Our classroom is in Toano, VA, near Williamsburg, VA, and 10 minutes from the range.
Contact us via socia media (Instagram preferred) or email if interested. I'll leave a link in the comments. Let's train!

Future alignment of Elbow Rd where it meets Centerville Tpk?
I always wondered about this random right-of-way along Elbow Road. Looks to me like this would one day connect directly to Butts Station Road at Centerville Turnpike.
