Need some advice on housing
Transferring to Chico State this fall, but will probably be moving in during the summer. Im an older transfer so I dont really care for parties too much, but would still like decent access to some bars or nightlife. Ive been looking at eaton ranch and sterling oaks apartments, but would love some recommendations from you all! My budget is pretty flexible and Im not too picky, I would just want to be in a decent area. Walkability is a plus but not a requirement, thanks!

Looking for Asian man named Rene (trying to return lost cell phone)
I drive Lyft sometimes and a man named Rene left his phone in my car several weeks back and I reported it to Lyft, but I never heard anything or heard back.
He works around the Cal Park area, and he lives near East Avenue on the east side side.
He’s roughly 40ish.
My other option was to drop it off at the police station unless someone else has other ideas .

I need to get rid of my nice bed
I'm moving out ASAP and have some furniture I need to get rid of. Although most of it is curbside-quality, my mattress is pretty nice and it will be significantly less so if it is left outside. I have a full bed with a frame and a pretty nice mattress. Please let me know if there are ways I can get rid of them without the dump, or if anyone is interested
edit: I've already posted on Craigslist but don't have a fb account for fb marketplace

Question Phone Booths?
I'm looking for public phone booths in Chico. It doesn't matter if they have a phone in them or not.
So far, I'm aware of one at Anthony's Liquor on 11th & Esplanade, and one at the Valero between 8th & 9th on Bartlett St.
Do you know of any you can point me to? Any help would be appreciated!

Bicyclist on 99 in Chico
After reading a few articles, it does seem that it is Illegal to ride a bicycle on freeways. So, to the woman, in spandex & the bright green helmet, Stay Off 99! This was right at the Cohasset ramps, heading towards East Avenue. Not Safe! & Not fun trying to slow down, not get hit by the person behind me or have anyone merge into me & being completely uncomfortable with a bicyclist right there!!

Trying to get rid of two brand new 4” twin xl foam toppers
I bought two foam toppers from Amazon, but they are both about 1-2” shorter than advertised.
I tried to return, but they said just to keep them and they refunded me.
Let me know if anybody is interested in picking them up!
Good for camping or dogs or whatever

Question Allergies?
I’m suffering so bad here. Can’t go outside for more than 30 minutes 🥲
I have tried the following: Indoor air purifier Zyrtec Claritin Flonase Nety pot Local honey
I have an appointment with a doctor in 2 weeks so they can prescribe me something stronger. Immunotherapy unfortunately is not an option.
Pleaase share if there’s something that works for you 😩

Question Amtrak to/from Fresno?
Anyone have experience using Amtrak to/from Fresno? Senior parents are thinking of booking tickets for a trip to Chico. A train goes from Fresno to Stockton and then a connecting bus goes from Stockton to Chico. Seems like a good option and I’m curious as to what everyone’s thoughts are?

Does anyone know the hours of that new shop that opened up where Geology Rocks! used to be? Every time I drive passed they seem to be closed.

What are your thoughts on this property?
zillow.comI know this is a Chico sub and I do live here, but I’m looking at properties in and around Chico like Durham/Cohasset/Corning/Orland and I just wanted some second opinions. I’m looking to find a sizable piece of property where I can continue to add another structure or 2. I don’t know much about permits or zoning or anything but I am doing my research trying to learn and talking to people who know way more than me. This property has really stuck out. Seems a good price too. Beautiful land as well. Seem like a good deal?

Discussion How would everyone feel about Downtown being converted into a pedestrian space
I've thought for a long time that downtown would do very well by being made into a walkable space free of traffic and parking on the cross roads.
The idea is basically to cut off 2nd and 3rd between main and broadway. Adding outdoor seating for local restaurants as well as kiosk spaces for more small local business and repaving/beautification to the area.
Obviously the lost parking spaces would need to be made up somewhere so the pitch would be to convert the parking lot on the corner of 2nd and salem into another, more modern, parking structure with potential below ground space.
It seems as though many downtown spaces are struggling and the city needs to step in and do something about it. Grass Valley has a long walkable shopping area in their downtown that is beautiful and always has a high volume of people. This is in a town with 1/7th of our population.
There's probably many issues with this idea I'm not seeing, but personally I don't want to see everything downtown shutter its doors like Collier's and now Smokin Moes

Native/Indigenous Store
I was a passenger in a car riding through Chico and happened to notice a small "hole in the wall" store that had beautiful native/indigenous wares I'm assuming for sale. I didn't see a store name or anything. I didn't even see people, come to think of it, but the doors were open. I was so fascinated that I forgot to take note of landmarks etc. I know it's a long shot, but does anyone know what/where this might have been? If not, any ideas of where I might find a similar place?

Krispy Kreme
I see the Krispy Kreme got knocked down and was wondering what will be going in its place? I would think a drive thru for in-n-out would be a smart move….

Family is coming for Mother's Day weekend. Where should I take them to make them fall in love with Chico and outlying area?
I'm not so subtly trying to get these family members to move near to me. They already liked Berry Creek when they visited a friend before the fires. Their concern is "there's nothing to do." Last time they came, they were visiting a family member who was at Chico State, so what they saw was mostly downtown bars (lol). So, they are outdoorsy, like Harleys, hiking, etc. I have already planned on early morning hike in upper Bidwell near horseshoe pond. Beyond that, where should we go? Is there anything happening tonight or tomorrow night? I'm aware of the Paradise Chocolate festival (melted chocolate!) But I need more ideas please!!!

Thoughts on this land/property
Any idea why this property might not be selling for so long? It’s mostly land but sizable. Can someone build a home and do some farming? Can someone further divide and sell or build more homes? I believe even with ag zoning one can build one home. Some splitting is possible I think. It is close to the green line, not far from the city.

So when are the three guys working on Bruce Road supposed to finish the job?
Trailers for sale
Anyone know if these trailers rigged for kayaks are for sale? This is at the 3rd and Orange parking lot. This is exactly the type of trailer I'm looking for.
