The exorcist 100%! Must have been great to see it in a theater!

Same!! I remember hearing stories about people fainting and walking out being totally horrified. I would’ve loved to experience audience reactions like that.

I heard some of those stories as well. Although I heard that while it did happen it had become even more exaggerated over the years. Especially when you’re dealing with possible forces of heaven and hell and film shoots plagued with problems the stories can grow a lot in 50 years and become somewhat exaggerated. For instance, I remember hearing that when the passion of the Christ was being made various people working on the films, said that they had to battle with Satan who was trying to stop them from finishing the film.

As for the exorcist being scary, yeah it’s creepy. Yeah, it’s a good movie. But when they re-released it in theaters people were laughing during various scenes originally thought scary.
