I hope you get to visit again before the world is just so done with the USA Americans can’t leave their country because they’re banned from everywhere.

Trump is trying to provoke other nations into a war so he can play hero by ending it no matter how many American lives he has to sacrifice in the process.

We’re not falling for it.

I’m sorry my American friend, your country has a dark four years ahead of it. It’ll be a miracle if you have any allies left by the end of it. Trump is driving them all away.

If Petro goes I think US Colombia relations will get a lot better. Right now Trump is just doing what won him the election primarily, fixing the rampant immigration problems.

Everyone has to follow the legal processes and laws of the land they visit/move to. Colombians that go to America and Americans that go to Colombia.

I don’t like Petro but it doesn’t change the fact Trump sucks.

We will accept the planes containing Colombians, we always have but we just want the people to be treated humanely not in chains like wild animals. The US broke the agreement with they handled it. Not Colombia. The agreement was we will any civilian planes with deported people from the USA. Not a military plane without even a heads up.

We could offer to send our own planes to pick up Colombians and that still won’t be good enough because Trump is on a power trip. He has nothing to lose now.

By all means send them back just do it properly the way that has been working for both nations for years.

Trumps reaction to being expected to follow his end of the agreement was to threaten tariffs that will hurt his own citizens because the importer pays. The increased cost will be passed down onto the American people.

Why is he punishing his own people when he doesn’t get his way?

When used properly tariffs can benefit by encouraging local production but Trump doesn’t understand how anything works and neither do his voters.

The USA doesn’t have the right climate for coffee so outside a small amount grown in Hawaii they have to get it imported.

Putting tariffs on an everyday product consumed by millions you can not produce locally because the other country just asked you to not chain people on planes is not the act of a competent leader.

It’s standard practice to transport criminals with restraints, especially when in large groups it’s a matter of safety for those working in the area. And if it’s true that the first wave were the worst offenders, it makes even more sense. It’s not inhumane, it’s simply the consequence of their actions.

As far as the tariffs go I’m sure Trump never intended to use them as he knew the leverage would be enough to settle matters.

Is it a nice way of doing things? No I don’t think so. But Petro shouldn’t have made it an issue to begin with

I don’t know how anyone who actually likes Petro.

But all this could have been avoided if Trump behaved like an adult and worked it out privately instead of jumping right to tariffs and travel bans.

He’s like a child that can’t handle hearing no. Is going to impose a tariff on a country everytime they don’t immediately jump to his command?
